Now THIS looks fancy. It'll definitely be a project to keep your eyes on, even if only to see it live when the lucasarts anti-fun legal team sends in the litigation ninjas

A video thats not really from the project but seems to use the assets. Makes me want to do the entire movie with a scumm engine overlay directing the actions
USE Force
USE Proton Torpedo WITH Death Star Exhaust Port

Nice! Another title I've got to keep an eye on.
I hope Lucasarts don't pull the plug on this like they did with the Star Wars mod for Quake (before the release of Jedi Knight). Then again, it's not like they're on the verge of making a Star Wars adventure themselves...
release first, then tell people about it! It stops cases of the lawyers...

Considering Lucasarts being one of the two most paranoid corporations when it comes to IP (the other one is EA naturally) it would not be surprising if LA lawyer is writing C&D letter right about now. They've shut down at least one freeware adventure game studio for using their IP (Lucasartsgames or something along the lines. I think they managed to release two adventure games before forced shutdown. They should still be floating around the net somewhere.).
There's also Star Wars based mod for Open Source Total Annihilation Engine clone The Spring Engine. Probably only reason it has not been shut down is that it has kept low profile. Publicy before release is bad for EA/LA IP based games wether they are Freeware or Open Source (if it's commercial you'll have FBI/CIA knocking down your door the minute you dare to mention it in the net).

I'd say the most paranoid is actually Fox. They make EA look like gentlemen in comparison.

Any company trying to take the name of another is asking to be shut down. No exceptions. It was stupid on their part and not something that Lucasarts could or should have tolerated.
Thanks for pointing out Spring though! I loved TA and I'll definitely have to check this out.

Fox even sued themselves because they believed they owned the rights to words that appear in any English dictionary. They're a painfully bad joke. It's embarrassing to share a species with anyone associated with the company.

No problem. I my self need to try Spring out at some point when I have time. Resource poor maps were the most fun as you practically had to salvage every destroyed unit, rock and tree to make by. One of the few games I played skirmish games on.
As for the fan project that was shut down by LA, it was actually 'LucasFan Games' and managed to release two adventure games before takedown notice and they were 'The New Adventures of Zak McKracken' and 'Maniac Mansion Deluxe'. And it was the games that takedown notice was for, not the project/team name and games were freeware. If I remember correctly they were also also developing Indiana Jones based game among others before they were closed down.

Ah, that's unfortunate. But didn't Lucasarts already make a Maniac Mansion Deluxe? Wasn't that the one included in DOTT? Still, by ant realistic standards it should be abandonware by now. A lawsuit seems unnecessary.
