Sounds interesting, but what is to stop a "jerk" from lying on the questionnaire and getting matched up with other people who aren't "jerks"? I do like the possibility that it could bring back some stagnant games, plenty of the GOG games with multiplayer functionality could benefit from that.
It will be good and I am waiting for this feature. Also new Impulse is looking awesome.
Cool. More features = more better. I just wish I knew one person that had impulse besides me.

I'm a huge supporter of Stardock and Impulse. It will be equivalent to Steam in terms of games/features eventually.
I hate match making for the most part.
or at least what he outlined, matching up people who have the same competitive level, sometimes I like playing with players with varying levels of skill.
there's other aspects of it to, depending on the game.
I approve of this idea, but before Impulse goes into matchmaking, Stardock should consider making Impulse less of a resource hog first. It takes quite a while to load up, authenticate account, and even then it seems to take up more resources than Steam. I like Stardock, and I support Impulse more than Steam, but Impulse just won't do that well as a messenger/matchmaker in its current state.

Yup, especially the "mandatory for playing" feature, and the "refuse to login, thus barring you from playing your games" feature. Those two are an absolute must.

um, I have demigod and a few other games on there, and it isn't mandatory for impulse to be running when I run those games. a little window pops up before hand, but as long as I don't launch through the impulse client, everything is fine.

I was referring to Vagabond's comment that Impulse will eventually be equivalent to Steam in terms of features. Those are two Steam "features" Stardock should absolutely not try to emulate.

Yeah, Wardell's made it clear you won't ever need Impulse running to play your games.
Everyone check out the rest of Phase IV of Impulse, looks neat: http://frogboy.impulsedriven.net/article/362228/Kotaku_Stardock_to_Roll_out_Impulse_Phase_IV_in_September
I've stopped using Impulse due to the hugely increased number or regionally restricted or regionally priced games on the service. What makes it worse is that unavailable games are both in the catalogue and frequently advertised on the frontpage.
I know it isn't Stardock who directly control these restrictions but this just rubs salt in the wounds of those of us not in North America.
It is about time Publishers begin to treat the web as world-wide and this they will only do when retailers stop pandering to their outdated business structures. AFAIK GOG is the only direct download service who offer their catalogue globally without restriction, yet another reason why they get my support.

i have to agree with this as well having lots of the games on impulse drm free for me not to be able to purchase them cos i don't live in the us!
I'm not sure I understand, do you fill out a survey overall for your gaming style just once or do you have to fill something out for each game? I get the impression its just the once but I play different games with different attitudes to how I like to play it. In something like COD4 I'm fairly competative but in something like duke3d I'd probably play more for fun.
I've never been a fan of matchmaking programs for games, because it's usually useless and it never works for me.
