cjrgreen: The actual link ends in a hyphen (as written), which confuses the heck out of the forum editor :(

I'll see if I can make it better, or link a different source.

There, fixed it :)

I really wish politicians kept their nose out of what is essentially a scientific debate.

I know that for a while, the Conservatives here engaged into an active misinformation campaign to keep the public confused about the state of climate change.

When I got tired of the BS floating around, I got myself an introduction-level book that was actually written by a scientist and started reading it.

StingingVelvet: It's so wet and cold here I have had a cold since I got here a month or so ago. Yet the other day it was inexplicably warm and sunny and dry for like 2 hours.

SimonG: Where in this **** **** country of **** are you anyway?
Hahaha... Right outside Batumi. It's actually relatively nice, just cold, humid and rainy all the time right now (and of course no central-heating, so you can't escape it).
0 => +4 Celsius degrees pretty much all the time here now, day and night. Enormous masses of snow are melting very slowly etc.

I don't know what to make of it, except that this is the kind of weather I like the least because you definitely can't do anything outside. If it was colder, you could ski or skate (I was playing ice hockey outside a couple of weeks ago, great fun). If it was warmer, you could jog or cycle (without breaking your neck). Now, nothing, the snow is too watery even for a good snow fight.

But at least moving towards spring and this is again good time for playing games inside, so...

Weather is weather, climate changes or not.

Those of you who really wonder about the weather can simply start reading some meteorology. Not that it's necessarily simple in itself. :) You can look up general facts about the atmosphere, pressure systems and frontal systems for starters.

I should be able to answer a few questions, but don't let your expectations run crazy. :)

cjrgreen: Senator Inhofe said so.
Gotta love politicians who fuel the fires of ignorance to suit their own ends.

Or maybe love is not the right word. I think I meant 'burn at the stake'.
We have had mostly bad wind/heavy rains, and by the MetService there is a weather bomb coming.... DOOMSDAY!
It was 70F yesterday, today it's snowing.
A few decades ago there was a snowstorm, a (minor) tornado and a heatwave all in the span of 24 hours sometime in July in one of our cities. Damned weather goes loco sometimes.
I'm in the US, near Lake Michigan, and this has been an oddly mild winter. We usually get a snow dump in December and don't see the grass again until spring, but it didn't really snow until January, and then it was warm enough for all of it to go away. It's been near 40 F all this week. Now it's the beginning of March, and still no snow. Love it.
