Some game audio that has aged badly for me:
1. Commodore 64 games. May be partly because I never owned one (three of my friends did), so I didn't create a real emotional connection to SID music. To me they mostly sound like someone making music with fart sounds from his mouth. Still, I recall I was blown away originally by e.g. the
Forbidden Forest music, when my friends were playing it. I was really jealous to my friends.
2. PC games with OPL-2 FM (Adlib or Soundblaster) music. Then again, I didn't like them even back then. Pretty much the only Soundblaster FM music I ever found enjoyable was
this. Otherwise the same comments as with C=64 game audio apply here too. I listened to Roland CM-32L or SCC-1 music instead in PC games, if just humanly possible.
3. Most Amiga game music. I did find it mostly quite enjoyable back then, but was still annoyed by the small amount of audio channels, which usually meant that part of the music was cut out if there were also sound effects during the game. And the audio quality was a bit scratchy and muddy due to low memory.
Also, quite often the "genres" used in Amiga game music were ones I didn't really like. I much preferred the movie-like orchestral music in American PC games, than the silly "Blood Money" or "Xenon 2 Megablast" music in mostly UK/European Amiga games.
