For all those nostalgic old farts (a good fraction of this here forum). There's a new place to relive the ancient days of the internet - you know 20-5 years ago (and beyond if you want to stretch the definition to ARPAnet):

Wow the spam exhibit.

"Today, roughly 130 billion spam e-mails are sent worldwide each day"
The most frightening thing about this exibit is that everything after IRC is what I would describe as "new fangled techno crap that I don't understand".

The other day I mentioned Contra on the NES. Someone in the forum said, "NES, yeah, my dad had one of those."

AHHHH!!!!!!!
Bookmarked. Thanks.
I'm old enough to remember a lot (ok, most) of that first-hand.

which is a fairly big percentage of e-mails actually - according to the Museum total e-mails number 294 billion. So over a 1/3 of all e-mails sent in a day qualify as spam if the numbers are true.
what is it stuff like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6TzAQXVpB8
Cool site, thanks
I remember most of the things on it, my dad got internet quite early.
Fucking beautiful.
This needs to be on GOG.

GOI? - Good Old Internet? Maybe they should have a section where it emulates what a 56K modem felt like - beeps, speed, and all, not just describe one.

GOI. That's an idea. The sad thing is that I'd actually like that.

Got a good chuckle out of that. These are scary times indeed!
