Kunovski: so either I can somehow get the English subtitles out of the subbed version and implement it into the speech version, or I can just give up (and play something else :D
It's not problem, cause in GOG version of Simon the Sorcerer you can choose either subbed or dubbed game to be installed, so install both (not in the same directory of course) and you will get subs. ;)

tried that of course but the file structure of both "versions" is so different that I can't find the proper solution to this :(

I've even tried messing around with the INI file but what confused me was that both versions have the same attributes mentioning usage of subs... so they are overruled by something... man, this is too hard (and I doubt I'll be the first person ever to solve this ;o)
Well, I somehow (don't ask how exactly, okay? :D) managed to download one of the version mentioned in the patch from your link (with French subs to be precise) and found out that all texts are incorporated in 2 files - 1. gamepc (without file name extension) which can be found in every version of the game and 2. simon.gme. I tried to replace French subs with English subs in the Intro using hex editor, but it didn't worked. But I'm not very skilled with hex editor (not skilled at all :D) so it's possible that it can be done if you know how to do it.
