Is there anyway to get the pre-order DLC if you didn't pre-order from a particular store.

The "Mysterious Merchant" DLC looks interesting, I would love to have it, is there anyway to get it other than pre-ordering through Gamestop?
I believe the pre-order bonus DLC is store specific, and so you aren't going to be able to buy it officially after the fact. I'm sure there will be people (on ebay or something) selling their codes once the game comes out though.
Damn, I really don't like that, I mean does anyone? Not being able to get certain features because you don't get it from a certain retailer.

I thought competition was supposed to HELP the customer, I guess not in the digital age.
"pre-order" offers usually only expire for digital offerings, if your going after the boxed version then so long as you get a copy from the first shipment then the code should be in the box ... no matter how long after the game has actually been released.

All that your getting when you pre-order from gamestop (or whatever) is the guarantee that you will be sold a box with the code in it.

... at least probably, I haven't read the fine print on this particular offer.

The code is provided by e-mail (at least in Poland)

Think about pre-order DLC as a "legal cheating", because they're boosting your character making the game easier...

And finally, they are just a matter of modern marketing.

The DLC's are told to not be sold in stores.
*shrug*

I usually think of pre-order bonuses as custom made "collector editions" for a specific store and expect everything to come in the box.

... but the Witcher 2 is the first video game related thing I have pre-ordered in over ten years, so I am kinda out of the loop, but more than one time I was able to pick up a "pre-order" package after release day so I figured that was the norm.

Well yeah, but it's marketing that's more business to business focused than business to customer.

It seems like the competition is not helping us the customer anymore, but the businesses make more money.

Competition is supposed to help the customers according to economic theory, I think all that's changing in today's digital age.

Gamestop doesn't have the collector edition anymore, online digital downloads don't have DLC, seems like a lose lose to me.

Of course, I am just thankful this game is coming out and that someone still really cares about not only the product they put out, but the PC platform as well. This game really should be fantastic.

How does the DLC register? Will I be able to buy a digital copy for example and apply retail DLC to it?

Exactly.

Like i mentioned in some other thread about this, it's content created to fuel the store wars and not at all created with the customers/fans in mind. Its' content created by game makers for stores and the people who pay for both stores and devellopers profits walk away with a "No soup for you" in regards to some of that content.

This isn't aimed specifically at The Witcher 2 but at the current *exclusives* trend bullshit.

They are not compatible? Does this mean you can only register 1 DLC?

Clearly the game disc will have no way to know which copy you bought, the only way to lock you out I can think of is to limit it to 1 DLC.

Anyone have any details?
Sorry to bug, but can anyone verify the details of how the DLC works?, it wasn't very clear in that thread, unless I missed something crucial.

AFAIK, you will be able to use only one (or two) DLC during the game, to not damage the difficulty of the game.

But you should be able to register all DLCs.

There will be a free DLC to download here

http://www.facebook.com/cdprojekt

It should be The Mage suit.

There will be a free DLC after registering the game, an additional quest called Troubles with the Troll (or something like that).
Pretty much as a rule, if the DLC is just some item that'll become outmoded after a few hours of gameplay, it'll remain store exclusive (such as the various DA2 pre-order items that were EA Store specific, GAME specific etc) but if it's something more meaningful and robust it'll be released as general paid DLC, such as the Sebastian DLC, to use another DA2 example. It'll be nice if all the DLC is potentially unlockable for every player but in terms of the items, going off past experience, they'll stop being good pretty soon into the game anyway.
