I thought in the last 6 months the overall Xbox/game division finally turned a profit? (including the years of the Xbox)

EDIT: maybe not as I'm having trouble finding the article which stated that. Of course looking at those charts I did find (which didn't include the last 6 months), Sony was doing no better or worse than MS for that same time period :/

Well, according to VG Charts the Xbox is third by a very narrow margin, and according to an article I googled the PS3 lost more money. So in this sense it's winning in what is apparently not a good market to be in. We'll have to wait and see if Microsoft and Sony manage to turn this around in the next gen.

It's been turning a profit for a couple years now but it was so in the negative I can't imagine it's caught up yet. I could be wrong.

Yeah, it worries me that apparently MS doesn't fully believe in the x86 platform anymore (at least in home use), and is trying to force the "PC" into something fully different, that would give them more control over it (including buying all your "PC" software through their store, blocking Linux from operating on the same HW platform etc.).

If only Linux community could get its act together.

Aye I thought it had finally caught up ... but maybe if you only count the whole game division as opposed to just the xbox piece? I dunno ... I too could very well be very wrong :)

Surface RT is the most useless toy-gadget in the universe, imo. Look elsewhere for your mobile needs. If you use a PC, you should always get an x86-based tablet/convertible.

I don't own any tablets, so can't give an informed opinion, but just a word of caution: My brother worked as a contractor for MS in the last 10 months in finance. The Surface is doing very poorly sales-wise which is why the price has dropped. If you are only interested in Office and web browsing, its probably not a big deal but if you want a large variety of apps and continued future support from developers, you would be better off with an iPad or Android tablet.

I'm waiting for the Haswell tablets to come out. Once that happens, perhaps we will see cheaper 1st gen Surface Pros. Not sure how well my gog games will perform on the surface pro, but I do know they won't run on an RT tablet.
Like your tablet my Transformer Prime collects dust.

I am curious about what the OP finally decided. Given the enthusiastic responses here, I guess I should be asking what model you chose. :D
