Personally, after doing some research I don't really mind that Gunship! isn't on GOG as it apparently isn't a great game and isn't high up on the wishlist, but I remember several people specifically saying they wanted Gunship 2000 to come here. And since there was a DOS version I'd imagine compatibility isn't an issue.

I remember gunship was pretty popular back in the day. The main thing that bothers me is an old game is released on steam before or instead of GOG. Especially a microprose game. This seems to be a growing trend which doesn't bode well for those of us looking for older games.
I remember playing the original on my C64. Gunship, Bard's Tale, and Silent Service were my favorite games from the C64.

I think you're thinking of the original 1986 game, which was an awesome flight sim for its day, although horribly dated now, and the DOS version was nothing short of dreadful (any version short of the ZX Spectrum version is superior to the DOS version, including the C64). Gunship! (with the exclamation mark) is the last game in the series and, indeed, wasn't all that great.

There was also Gunship 2000 released in 1991. Personally I'd hope that Tommo would release these two as a double act in the same way they released Silent Service 1 & 2.

My father owned the original Gunship for the Amiga 2000 we used to use back in the earlier days. Haven't seen that game in years either.
Totally buying this if it shows up on GOG.com. Gunship (the original C64 game) was the first flight simulator I ever used and got me hooked on helicopter sims. I own all the existing ones on GOG, but anticipate the Gunship games and also Janes Longbow series making it here some day as I'd love to play all of those old titles again on my modern system and flight hardware.

Actually this is one of the very few filghtsimulators that allows for coöp in the same helicopter, if GOG passed on this one I guess I have to bring my money to Steam.

Gunship! , ( Released in 2000) is probably the least interesting game in the series. It was planned to integrate with a tank simulator, but that one was never released. Result : the game remains unfinished.

The early Gunship, released in 1986 WAS a great game. But it's outdated. It plays perfectly well under Dosbox. Gunship 2000 is difficult to get running on a modern setup. nGlide provides a solution on my rig ( Yes, I still have the original disks and I was fortunate enough to maintain a backup all that long ) , not I'm not sure it is that universal.

Still I hate the idea that Tommo releases something on GOG and not on Steam. Tommo also has the rights for the Falcon 1-3 games , etc... I have always wondered why flight sims are so scarce on GOG. When I saw F117 I had hoped others would follow, but that hasn't led to any other release... and now this. Worrying.
Good job Steam!
Right?
One word that I say: uh oh.

As an big flight sim fan, I'm hoping we'll see this sooner rather than later on GOG. GOG's often quiet about upcoming releases so maybe this is already on the horizon to come to GOG. *fingers crossed*
If this one's not coming to GOG there's gonna be some serious slapping, either at the GOG offices or Tommo's.

Anyway, if anybody asks: I'm in the attic looking for grampa's slapping glove that he used to slap the Waffen SS during the Warsaw Slaprising.

Longbow Gold 2 is another one for coop multi in the same chopper too.
