9/10 score, looks like a pretty cool game.

TL:DR

You'll also have access to a number of diary entries from the main cast, which help piece some of the story bits together that you may not be experiencing at the current moment. Out of the game's four chapters (which are roughly 10 hours long), you can search for extra items in every location that essentially function as collectibles -- so once all is said and done and you've figured out every puzzle, there's still something to hunt for.

I don't want to give too much away, but Valiant Hearts: The Great War is significant in many ways. It not only gives us a rewarding and engaging way to see the horrors of war as it pertains to this particular likable cast of characters, but it also educates us on one of the most significant events in history. Ubisoft Montpellier could have just delivered a good game and called it a day, but they went above and beyond the call of duty to add context to the proceedings, and that is quite the commendable effort.
Spec Ops:The Line also showed the horror of wars while at the same time providing great meta commentary on war games. Can I expect something better then that in this game?

I've only played about 25 mins of VH and find it more....endearing and emotional than SO:TL so far, but I wasn't a big fan of SO:TL, I thought it was a crap shooter (mechanics-wise) and less than subtle in its depiction of the "horrors of war".

They are totally different games but I think if you specifically want an emotional anti-war game, VH (imo) will be a better bet.

Hope that makes sense :)

I think it was intended not to be fun(gameplay wise). Anyway Valiant Hearts seems to be worth giving a try:)

I got it but have only played a short while. Its a side scroller, you move across the screen (kinda like Limbo) and try to get past obstacles to progress further, eg. You see a box of grenades, move on a bit further and see that you will have to use them in this place, sometimes you will just throw them, other times you may have to wait for a break in the enemy fire, to throw them to free an object to progress a little further. Further in you have to distract guards, dig tunnels while avoiding unexploded shells etc.

So far I have played as two characters an American out for revenge and a French soldier with a dog who helps solve puzzles.

Its worth the 15 quid to me as my kids will play it too, it's kinda educational, as you progress, you unlock facts about WW1, how it started, different incidents and areas, explains some war mechanics etc.

It's simple, emotional, educational and entertaining, 9/10 material, probably not when compared to a blockbuster AAA title, but in its genre, indie sidescroller adventure game, it's not too unbelievable a score.
Be careful if you're thinking of buying it, it's really buggy. You may not have the same issues, but there are a lot of graphical glitches, like heads and other objects flickering in the sky, and character models flickering, if you don't have epilepsy already, you might after trying to play this game for a few minutes
I am about halfway through the game and I have to say I am having more fun with it than I thought I would. It is not only a fun side scroller puzzle game it has great art and a great story. Plus like it was mention it has extra diary entries which add to the story and back-story.

Edit: The only bug I have seen in the game isn't even really a bug it's just a minor glitch that I am sure will get patched out. All it is, is sometimes during cut scenes I notice a tiny flicker in the video in the top corner. It is noticeable but barely and nothing to really complain about.

Have you gone through emotional moments during th game? The trailer was very emotional, so I would also expect the game to be so :)

There was a moment or two, I don't usually cry during video games, but there has been some. I am only about halfway through the game so I imagine there is going to be more emotional scenes since it has been gradually getting more emotional as the story goes forward.

I also haven't read any of the diary entries. I was going to wait till I beat it to do that, but I can imagine there will be some in there as well.

I'll have to post again once I beat the game and let you guys know if it was as emotional as it was made out to be.
I said I would post again once I beat it and let you all know if it is sad or not.

I don't usually ever cry while playing games and this game isn't an exception, but it does get sad at the end and I guess you may cry if you are the emotional type.
