Anyone else played it?

I got it as part of a humble bundle. I saw TotalBiscuit do a WTF is on it and thought it looked really nice, but the mac version (at least on my pooter) is terrible. It's super slow, the graphics look terrible, the port just looks really bad.

Has anyone else tried it on mac and if so, what are your thoughts?
Sigh. This was actually one of the games I was after for that Humble Bundle, and I trusted that they'd be able to finish it on time and with a good quality port.

Unfortunately according to posts on the developer's blog, this was the first port he'd ever done, and he'd naively assumed that porting over the game's graphics subsystem would be a trivial effort. Well, we all know what happens when people assume that about a port, right?

Sigh. I really should have learned my lesson from past MacHeist bundles which offered buy-ins into pre-release software. Come to think of it, Splot from the Humble FrozenByte Bundle is still vapourware.
I think he gave up on it, reading his Twitter feed anyway.

It is a great game, worth playing in a VM or something though.

If that's true, that's a really shitty thing to do. The least he could do is make some sort of public statement about it. At least it'd give some closure to the matter (unlike the vaporware Mac port of Alien Arena that was supposedly "almost done").

Last I checked, some people had gotten it to work in Wine.

Humble needs to do something about this.

They addressed this and are offering refunds.

That was because it was late, not because it was abandoned. It's worth a try though.

Still, if you can get it going in Wine, or a VM, play it, it's really clever.

So I am playing Vessel through wine. It is SO much better than the port. The speed is good (only minimal slowdowns) and the graphics are infinitely better. The only issue seems to be that the old mac warms up very quickly while running it.

I just realised the same guy did the Mac port for Capsized, and there are a few issues with that as well. Two levels are practically unplayable...
