Hey guys, so i'm Neftyn ( call me Neftyn ) and i really like to write, recently i have seen a big lack of game guides / manuals, and i thought i wanted to try out making some, but i never did this before, i will probably start with my own games. ( i only have 4 )
But i would greatly appreciate, if anyone could get me going, like..... Formatting, spoilers,.... Like everything, i would really like to know about every aspect.
And like do i "solve" the game for you ? or do i just help you get going ? all that kind of stuff, perhaps you guys could link me to a guide / manual ? :)

Thanks for reading this.

Well a manual tells you how to play the game, a guide tells you how to win a game.
So what do you want to do?
If you want to write guides, I'd suggest going to GameFAQs since they have tons of them.
IGN also has a bunch of guides and they spend a bit more time making them look good.
Or you could 'buy' some Prima guides or perhaps check out Gamepressure.
If you want to write manuals, check out Replacementdocs.

Neftyn:
What games do you plan writing guides for?

Neftyn: i would really like to know about every aspect.
As example, you can check Silent Hill solutions. They are all interesting and different. There are also in depth guides. Which focus on one asect of the game, and explain it in great detail.
If you never played this game, and plan to do so in future, you should read titles and look for another game. Guides are very detailed, and will spoil the game for you for sure.

It's your desition!
You can write a short guide, or a detailed solution. You can write both.
One can be like a hint book, the other will be a solution guide. The hint book, wil contain important details for story progress. While complete solution will have all details relevant for gaining best rating. Such as: list of secrets and special items.

Check This as an example of an in-depth guide (it's for Baldur's Gate). You can go less detailed if you want to be less spoiler-y.
For formatting, try something like Markdown, I use it all the time for different things, and while it reminds me of the older game manuals, like the Windows Help file for Castle of the Winds, I love that. And also, I recommend a Manual, with a hint section. But I will look at anything you get together.
Hey guys, i really appreciate all the replys i am very happy, and i wanna try to make a manual now, but can anyone recommend me some sweet programs to write in ?
And maybe some sort of list with programs that can help me ?
www.gamefaqs.com is really the ultimate compendium on the lost art of writing guides, all in sweet .txt.

The greatest obstacle in writing those always is to have the knowledge how a game operates, what mechanics it uses and it helps to have some coding skill to take it apart to see how it functions and what parameters it uses.

You can argue how the concepts have changed as really there is less an less need for faqs and guides as more and more gameplay can be summarized as: follow the compass, pickup the glowing object, go down a straight corridor shooting dudes. Really no need for a guide there.
