MrDaMaGii: That promo was evil! I only wanted Neverwinter Nights 2 and ended up with everything.
Me too! Looks like I won't eat tomorrow though...just kidding!

yonazzan73: Back in the day when these games were released I was playing consoles and never played any of these games. so naturally I bought the complete pack.
Same here. Bought all 10 for little more than 16€. Felt a bit like I was stealing from GOG :P

I think I'll start with Baldur's Gate, as per ReviewGamesh suggestion.
Only one I haven't nabbed yet that I'm interested in is NWN2. For less than five bucks that's pretty much a done deal for me. Just in time to be actually fun and playable on my new lappie. :)

mharris: The Fallout series is on my wishlist for some time now and I look forward to picking up the series when there's a good promo on in the future. All I hear anywhere is how cool the game is.
So how did you miss the free giveaway for Fallout 1? You've been here long enough. Just saying.

Don't remember seeing that. Just searched my email archives of past promos and it didn't turn up, when was that? I have missed a few freebies over time simply due to not checking my email for a day or two though.

Just one question: where do you think I should start? Since I've never played any of them I don't know if maybe some games are more difficult than others, so I should play them later...

Which game do you think I should play first?

Right now I think maybe Planescape Torment, or maybe Baldurs Gate I or II?

Thanks for your help
Definitely don't skip Baldurs Gate I before II. Right off the bat in BG2 you will have companions seeking revenge and you will have no clue as to why they are upset. These games have very nice stories attached to them, that is, if you like the story aspect of them instead of just playing them regardless of the scenario.

It is difficult to recommend where to start since we are talking about a very nice promotion regarding some serious classics. I can give you a few notions of what I think of some of them which I have played a lot.

With regards to the Baldur series I don't recommend the Tutu mod since BG1 is a nice compact game that really doesn't need to be enhanced. Only if you have played both and fell in love with them, it can make sense to load this mod and replay them yet again, otherwise you are just going to cause a headache to yourself.

Planescape is characterized by being a very long in-depth game. You can of course make a game as long as you want to by skipping dialogue and using guides. But it is a very in-depth talky and reasoning and different type of game from your usual medieval slaughter fest. This is a game worth sinking your teeth into.

The Temple of Elemental Evil is a gem. I highly recommend that one for starters. It is a game that is so flawed and yet so awesome it is unbelievable. Basically you have a very short game scenario, bugs galore on the original (hope those are well fixed in the GOG version) and a gay pirate (LOL). But seriously, this game has the most beautifully executed D&D rules gameplay that was ever done. I played this game so much and always changed the options menu so that it would display the rolls. The mechanics of this game are so amazing, but the execution was a bit less so. This is a must though if you love D&D or wish to know what D&D was all about.

Neverwinter Nights and Icewind Dale are great stories and I don't want to diminish them by not having much to write about them. They stand on their own as great stories that follow the D&D format although I think the other games really stood out a bit more.

Forgotten Realms Demon Stone is where I am a newbie. And will enjoy checking this one out.

Hope this helps.

Btw, don't burn yourself out by trying to play BG1 for example because you want to move on to BG2. Regardless of whether you bought it or not, you might want to check a walkthrough in Youtube regarding BG1 and get acquainted to the game and know the characters that way. Then go and jump into BG2. Also, I do recommend you check out guides regarding these games. There are a lot of quirks and some people don't like spending hours on a game only to realize that during character creation they messed up their character. These are oldies and unless you got a long tooth in them, you might be left upset that you created a character that after spending hours in it, it is somehow hampered.

Good luck.

Since I wasn't exactly sure of the exact time I had to Google it: beginning of last april.
Brilliant promo. Just had to snag NW2, the last of the lot. :D But considering how amazing and worthwhile this promo is, might just gift a few friends with some games.

As far as I know... the only freebies given were realms of arkania 1 +2 / realms of arkania 3/ Fallout 1 and Duke Nukem 3D.

Before that, I had not joined the forum yet.
Thanks a lot Buenro-games! Probably I'm not the ony D&D noob around here and I'm sure all of us appreciate your mini-guide alot!

I played and loved most of the JRPGs of the 16bit era because of the story, so I think I'll start with Torment and leave both BG for the long, lazy summer nights to come.

Thanks again
Man, this promo is doing wonders for NWN 2's ranking in the sales list. :D
Well, i guess I'll get Neverwinter night 2... and maybe Baldur's gate 2... and Icewindale 2...
...
I'm going to buy the whole list won't I?

If you haven't backed the Torment Kickstarter but would if you liked its predecessor, then I'd recommend trying out Planescape first, because there is still (an unknown amount of) time to back the project through paypal. (see the link)

Aw, I missed those, especially Fallout :( But there's been a free promo for the original Broken Sword at some point, which I did grab :)
I've only had the Neverwinter Nights Gold Edition for my PC so this bundle was great to play the NWN 2 and the other great games like Baldur's Gate series, IceWind Dale series. It's my first purchase too since I joined. What a great bundle!
