Gothic series, The Book of Unwritten Tales, Panzer Elite, Painkiller, Aquanox 1 and 2, and more, 60% off!

This weekend we've prepared for you a promo featuring some very [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/nordic_games_weekend_promo_140613]Notable Nordic Games! Looking at the catalog of titles available on GOG.com via the publisher Nordic Games, one just cannot miss the fact how exeptional some of them are. Just look! There's one of the most notable RPG sagas. There's one of the FPS games most notable for its old-school gameplay. There's a war game notable for being one of the few tank simulation games. There's an adventure dilogy notable for brilliantly spoofing the fantasy genre as a whole. Everywhere you look--an exceptional game that deserves appreciation. Hence the promo title: Notable Nordic Games. Let's take a quick look at two of them, shall we?

The Book of Unwritten Tales references almost all imaginable popular fantasy worlds, that you visited in your books, movies, and games. It comes in the form of a classic point-and-click adventure with impressive and detailed visuals, quirky characters, and professional voice acting. Whether you're a Terry Pratchett reader, a WoW player, or a fan of Peter Jackson's vision of Lord of The Rings, you'll have a blast discovering all the references the game's creators are making here. On top of that, by the Great Rule Of Fantasy Sagas, so zealously followed by many writers, filmmakers, and game developers, there is a sequel!

The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles could do just fine by only copying its predecessor. After all--that's what many successful sequels do. The creators, however, made damn sure to give you a plethora of fresh and funny ideas, a cast of new crazy characters, and plenty of previously unseen locations. Both games are available in English and German versions, for Windows and Mac, and the price is only $7.99 for each!

That's merely scratching the surface, of course! Head out to the promo page to browse the full list of games you can grab 60% off until Tuesday, June 18, at 3:59AM GMT.

RS1978: the missing hint for the upcoming release?
Missing hint? We had a video? I can't find a link (yet).

JinseiNGC224: So as in next week, are we saying any day next week, or next weekend being the summer sale? In terms of probability :)

RS1978: There was a hint from a staff member in the Pandemonium 2 release thread. Plus only two releases this week and the missing hint for the upcoming release? Time would fit to the beginning of last year's Summer Sale as well.
With the lack of sales I was sort of thinking the same thing. I wasn't here for last summer's sale but I heard it was around this time....man I can't wait @_@

But none of these games will be in the summer sale, right? Because it's so soon after it I wouldn't think so. I also don't want to waste my money if there is even the slim chance of the same games on a better sale.

Starmaker: BEST PROMO EVAR.

(I'm broke and I already have every game.)
One in a line of many great promos then for me I've over allocated to charities (to reduce my tax), now I actually need to keep my money to pay for things.
Not that I have a problem with paying tax but my government is incapable of using the money properly.

Doubtful. GOG's summer sale so far haven't been store wide sales, but selected titles for limited time. So I'd say you're safe to buy them now.
I wonder why Gothic 1 was not included in the promo. Oh well, I'm tight on cash right now anyway.

Nordic Games don't own the rights for Gothic 1.

I suppose my final question would be how long a summer sale runs for. Is it like a weekend promo, or is it a week long or more?

True, but the title says Gothic series, thus at first I was assuming it's the whole series...

gibbeynator: This Week in GOG is where?
This week in GOG has been pretty miserable imo, 2 games (only one being pre-2000) and 1 preorder for a new game.

Yes, I've thought the same, but it's always harping on the same theme - there were a lot of trouble due the distribution rights of Gothic 1, so we can be happy that GOG is allowed to offer it anyway.

It's in e-mail newsletter.

Also, Rebecca Black is worth the lack of hint. :-)

As for The Book of Unwritten tales...

I would likely place this game along the company of Syberia, the longest journey, sanitarium, etc. Its a very solid game, great humor, very pretty, and relatively bug free. This is the type of game that will get non-gaming girlfriends/boyfriends to want to game with you ;) Its a beautiful and very light puzzle game that plays out more like an interactive movie.

I was amazed that I hadn't heard more about this game once I started playing. 8 bucks is an amazing deal for this level of quality. As a reference, my first playthrough of the first game took 16 hours, so its not lacking in content either.
