Get Thief, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Soul Reaver, and more Square Enix titles 50% off!

If you read the tagline, what more is there really to add? Our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/square_enix_weekend_promo_080213]Ultimate Square Enix promo offers you the chance to get games from some of the most exciting series with a nice 50% off discount. Square Enix catalog features some of the most impressive gems in the GOG.com offer. Titles that evoke memories and emotions in thousands and thousands of gamers. The character cast of the Square Enix stable alone is impressive enough to make one's heart race. If GOG.com had a red carpet, celebrities such as Lara Croft, Garret the Master Thief, Agent 47, Kain and Raziel, and JC Denton would arrive to walk it on a limousine marked by Square Enix logo. Let's take a quick look at the featured games, shall we?

Lara Croft is the ever-shining star of the Tomb Raider series. Lately her character has undergone some major changes. Here, we give you a chance to spend some quality time with good--erm--classic Lara. Tomb Raider 1+2+3, Tomb Raider: Last Revelation + Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness sum up all of the miss Croft's early career, for only $4.99 each!

Yet another hero who is a fan of property re-assignment concept, Garret the Thief is now preparing a big return. On GOG.com you can catch up wit all of his adventures, as long as you can keep up with him, as he silently moves through the shadows. Thief Gold, Thief 2: The Metal Age, and Thief 3: The Deadly Shadows let you experience the life of a thievery archmaster, for only $4.99 each!

Also preferring to keep a low-profile, Agent 47 is the main character of the Hitman series. The newest game featuring the bald assassin brought a lot of new ideas to the table, and not all of them met with gamers' appreciation. We give you first two classic Hitman games: Hitman: Codename 47 for only $2.99 and Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, for only $4.99!

That's only a small taste of the Square Enix title you can get 50% off this weekend. Head out to our Ultimate Square Enix promo page, to check out the whole offer!

Below, you'll find a new episode of This Week on GOG, a short video guide to recent events, promos, and other happenings on the site. By the way, if you haven't already, you might want to follow the GOG.com channel on Youtube, so you won't miss our shows, specials, and exclusive trailers.

dirtyharry50: Wow.

I have to give you credit for one thing. You don't fool around dropping hints about your personal finances, when your payday is, how you wish you could afford a three dollar game now, etc.

You just come right out and shamelessly beg.

I must be a fool. Here I am getting by on social security disability and I manage to find funds for games this inexpensive. Yet, every time there is a thread for a sale, without fail there is the litany of posts about how people can't afford this game or that, payday is later, how can you do this to me GOG, hint, hint, hint and then even brazenly begging and what is amazing to me is these ploys work.

I'd have to be pretty damned hungry to beg for food. Begging for a three dollar game just blows my fucking mind.
Shut up and gift me a game already. If you can't afford a game (Skyrim would be nice, thank you), gift me french fries. French fries are always welcome. And socks. All my socks have holes in them. And underwear. That's a warm and cozy thought, wearing underpants chosen by an unknown fellow male goger. And carrots. I need carrots for tomorrow dinner. You know, tomorrow is Sunday, so most stores will be closed here in Spain. Send them by priority mail, please. Did I already mention french fries? And maybe pizza, so I don't have to cook tomorrow? Thanks a ton, man!

dirtyharry50: Big 'ol post.
Damn. I'm glad you feel better after writing all that. Personally I have no issues with TET and from his posts on here I think he is a good person. I have confidence in him that he feels he handled the situation in the best manner in all his posts here. I don't think anyone reading this thread could say either side at the start of this was totally innocent.

The primary reason I was glad that TET made an apology post was hoping it would help the issue settle down some so it would pass. Even after a thread such as this, I rather not have back and forth bickering end up making this a forum that needs totalitarian moderation like so many others around the internet do.

TheEnigmaticT: So, Gameon, on the off chance you swing by the forums again: I'm sorry that I addressed your problem like an asshole. While the resolution of it would not change, I could have done a better job in several respects of informing you what was happening and why.

With that said, it's 2:30 in the morning here, and I've derailed this thread more than enough for one weekend. See you all on Monday.
Thank you. I needed to hear this.

Plus everybody seems to forget the ethically debatable thread Licurg opened a couple of month ago asking to post pictures of dead animals (So it can befit the atmosphere of Sacrifice I believe).
To put it bluntly he might be barking threats but I still find him gloomy and shady and do NOT like his unsubtle interventions on this forum.

On another note I bought the remaining Soul Reaver game, and Urban Chaos :-) Gonna get busy :P !!!

dirtyharry50: Thanks man. I feel better after getting that off my chest. :D
Fucking hell, did I really do anything deserving of fifteen paragraphs of rage? Jesus.

The extra great part is that after asking people in general to consider a little empathy before they post, I get one with zero empathy whatsoever. I was just happy the situation was resolved and glad that TET (who I think is a nice guy even!) realized why some might have been upset with him. Why the hell was that so fucking offensive?

I mean, I could go and post a line by line breakdown of everything you've got wrong (which is more or less everything), but why fucking bother. I'm depressed enough as it is. You win, congrats. Glad you feel better.

Well said, I'm in total agreement.

I notice your post is already high-rated so I guess what you're saying has struck a chord with the community, and I'm relieved to see that.

I think this was a reason some people disagreed with TET's response - that it seemed to not address or take concern with Licurg's behavior as much as gameon's. We love TET and know he was just trying to diffuse the situation. Both gameon and Licurg at fault in the thread, but like you have mentioned Licurg has a history of questionable behavior on the forum.

I posted this already, but here are two additional cases of Licurg talking about others besides gameon being dead, or even saying he'd kill someone if he had the chance.

Frequently uses terms like "retard" or "fag" which can be bothersome for some:

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/postal_2_complete_giveaway/post13
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/why_is_the_postal_forum_overrun_with_imbeciles/post12

Earlier people mentioned disliking how some posters beg for games frequently. If you look in the GOG and non-GOG gifting request threads Licurg posts as much as anyone, and he regularly receives games as gifts. I wonder if he's playing all of them or just collecting. Even when XIII was removed, Licurg asked for and received the game. Then he bragged about it:

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/xiii_removed_from_the_catalog/post33

He also wins a lot of giveaways (often for "trading" or "gifting to a friend", but sometimes will do his own giveaway with what he won). I don't enter giveaways, so I'm not bitter or anything in case someone wants to accuse that. Here's a case where he won and made a kind of boastful remark instead of publicly saying thank you:

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_midwinter_variety_sale_giveaway/post39

That said, I think a lot of posters joined the discussion among Licurg/gameon/TET because they have concerns about Licurg's behavior on the forum. A number of people have expressed that in this thread, and I think that's where the "drama" came from. And if you ask me Licurg's outburst with violent language and wishes of harm was more troublesome than gameon's drama queen behavior. As you can see in what I posted at the beginning, it's not the first time Licurg has addressed people in such a manner.

I've followed the forum closely since last year, but finally joined in December during the promos. That said, I think Licurg's behavior is setting a bad standard for the forum. And it sometimes seems the community rewards him or encourages this behavior, as many came to his defense after posting the death wishes or whatever you want to call them. I apologize if this comment is inappropriate for the thread, and I recommended having a separate discussion thread earlier. I'm not trying to antagonize anyone, but I think that this whole drama episode raised a couple other issues, too.

dirtyharry50: ...defense of TET...
(tear slides down cheek) So... beautiful. +1

TET handled this situation well. In response to a gentle chiding to be mature, gameon chose to make a public charge that amounted to "You are not doing your job, Licurg is committing a crime on your forums, and the terms of service and/or code of conduct are not being upheld." This merited/demanded a public response, and TET's response was rational, well-explained, and proper for this forum.

Anyway...

drennan: So… Square Enix. Has anyone else pondered how painful, or even lethal Lara Croft's angular anatomy in the early games might have proven in a romantic encounter?
Oh, the sweet, sweet pain... ;-)

Iain: Anyhow, fixed the no intro thing on Soul Reaver, just had to tick run as admin and also the bottom 3 options on the compatability tab on the exe and now it plays in all its pixelated glory. Running lovely with the pad so need to setup profiles for the other GOG games I have like Urban Chaos in XPadder.
Hi, there, How did you make Xpadder work with Urban Chaos? I can map the button just fine but as soon as the game detect my gamepad (360 controller) it make the character uncontrollable. Like she's stuck in spinning motion due to no deadzone setting for the analogue stick.

I was up to 1am last night to try and stop the spinning. Unfortunately didn't manage it. The problem lies with the game having the joypad enabled all the time so you can swap control schemes on the fly. If you could enable and disable the pad in the options and set to just keyboard then it would be fine.

I tried deleting all the joypad stuff in the 2 config files but no luck, also tried changing all the joypad keys to unused but still the spinning. Even tried changing the deadzone on the profile in XPadder to maximum but it still won't work. I will keep looking for a solution and if I find one will post it up.
