As the subject asks, what game that GOG currently carries is closest to Monster Truck Madness? We're talking large tracks with no real boundaries, multiplayer support, and just generally fun. High-res support and split-screen multiplayer would be huge bonuses.
From its description and screenshots, 1nsane looks the closest to me. What do you guys think?

Agreed, 1nsane.
1nsane is definitely closest. But Flatout may also appeal to you. Even if it's lacking in the monster truck aspect.

Flatout does look like fun. I didn't realize it was multiplayer - it would be nice if the game page had some indication of that.
Do either 1nsane or Flatout support high-res?

I have 1nsane set to 1600x1200, dunno about flatout.

Hold on a second. It seems the PC version of Flatout doesn't support multiplayer. The game does support quite high resolutions. Not sure about widescreen though.
Flatout has a demo that worked for me at least on my xp machine, you may want to try that, not sure about 1nsane. The demo put me off buying the game though, I didn't like how slidy(for lack of a better word) the cars felt. This could also be because I suck at racing games though, with trackmania about the only one I play at the moment.

I agree very much with this! I've spent way to much time sifting through the catalogue/forums looking for fun multiplayer games.
I have to agree with Ralackk, Flatout was disappointing. I bought it and was very excited, but then I played it and blegh. I should've tried the demo first :(

Had the exact same experience. It was unbearable. Bought it in a sale though just cause. :P

I wish I had money to burn on games I dislike and don't ever plan to play :P As it is I've got more games then I'll probably ever manage to beable to play this year already on my shelf(virtual and real), with more coming out all the time and tons of games I want but can't currently afford.

I dont really have it, I just can't resist sales. :)
And yeah, same situation here. Hopefully there's an afterlife and it has internet.

Thanks for this, guys. I'll see if I can find a demo, then probably won't get it.

Good to know.
Thanks guys; that about answers my question, I think. I'll definitely be getting 1nsane along with the next batch of games I get from GOG (I'm waiting until a few more Activision titles are out; I like to make as few individual purchases as possible to save GOG on the PayPal fees).

The demos thread has demos for both games, although I think the 1nsane one may not work so well. But it's great. I can all but assure you you'll be happy with it. :)

Monster Truck Madness... I remember that game! In fact, I'm pretty sure I still have the disc laying around somewhere. Haven't touched it in years!
