I wonder how many of those wish they bought the better product HD DVDs now. I still can't believe they had to stop production over bluray. The quality difference is quite interesting. They also work on pc's!

Eh i thought it would be better than it is right now. Unencrypted ones should work or ones riped to the HDD (this I checked for myself). The other way needs some work to set up and there should be provided some ways in the forum that all work kind of in the same way. They rip the movie and play the rip at the same time.

Then I would say that being one of 18 companies in an association formed for the development of Blu-Ray equals inventing it is an interesting way to put it.

Hmm...it was mostly related to Sony proprietary format hating comments. I know they were only one of guys in the association, but everyone else in this topic seems to disregard that.

I'm aware that Sony once upon a time was cool and they still make decent products (looking past the drm), but the problem is that they have become overly zealous with ensuring their customers can not tinker with their products and potentially commit piracy.

Therefore, I refuse to support them whenever possible until they stop assuming I'm a criminal and stop putting crippleware on their products.

So far, I had 0 issues with their products. I think it's quite understandable I'm defending them. :)
If you want to thinker, there is always a way. My modchipped PS-s say hello. Not that I'm proud of using modchip but there is no other way here. Console games are either insanely overpriced or completely unavailable.
If we don't support Sony now, there may not be anything to support in few years. They are really in bad financial situation.

I can respect that point of view, I guess we can agree to disagree on this.

I'd be willing to support them again if they would just throw a bone my way and show that they don't consider all their customers potential pirates.

It's why I still get DVD's and watch them upconverted if I purchase a movie.

It is not so much their products being bad (they are not) as it is how they show a complete lack of respect for their customers that is the issue for me.

Netflix and Amazon Prime are pretty good in the US, in Canada not so much. Outside Canada, not at all.

Ask anyone who had Betamax or Laserdisc units and they will totally be there with you. :) Better quality = higher price = less market penetration = failed format. Funny thing though, I buy fewer media each change, I had less DVDs than VHS tapes, and less BluRay than DVDs. A couple more tech leaps and I will dump them all! Muhahahahaha! ;)

Except for DRM free digital games, it seems. :)

Hey I've been mostly the same! Maybe the ease of being able to copy has something to do with what people are willing to buy or not?

I know for me DRM free is at least a selling point if not a deciding factor. Too often I find DRM interfering with my use of a legal copy I have purchased of any given media and I have never seen it stop anything from being pirated. I don 't support or condone piracy but I think DRM is not the way to minimize the costs as it can and does affect customers.

Hey if were upto me id still be using Laser disc on a daily basis. So under appreciated as far as im concerned haha.
