I'm going to record some playthroughs of Rolling Thunder and I thought, what better time than this to do a Let's Play? Thing is, I'm only vaguely familiar with Let's Plays, having seen a few humorous ones. Is there a good arcade one to watch that would be a direction for me to go in? Any advice in general?

EDIT: And does anyone have a recommendation for a mic recording application? I don't think I can use FRAPS because of the renderer I use in MAME, unfortunately.

Do it while performing a Maxwell Smart impersonation.
The NES game? I used to play that a ton. Pretty tough.

Yeah, I'll be playing the arcade version with MAME but I assume the games are pretty similar. Very hard, only today did I beat it for the first time. Would like to do it with one coin, although it would be really awesome to do it without dying... don't think I could pull it off easily though.
You should open every part with a snazzy intro accompanied to AC/DC's Thunderstruck. Only the first 30 seconds or less of the song, though. You know how it is with classic rock bands like AC/DC and them newfangled computation services.
Use Audacity to record your microphone output. :)

Ah, thanks! I can't believe I know of that program, have it, and didn't think of that!
A non-annoying voice would be nice.
And no friggin' uuuhm's all the time.

I'll try my best not to let you down on both counts, but no guarantees on either.
I just tried to watch a let's play Warband video and both versions I found annoyed me too much to watch.
The first one had a really annoying voice and accent, so I looked for another one.
The second one had a slightly less annoying voice, but here's some don'ts I learned from him:

- Don't talk like it's the most boring thing you've ever done
- Don't read all the friggin' text out loud (he seriously read out all the filler intro text during character creation)
- Don't act like a 'tard because you think people will think it's funny ("I want to teabag him", "Oh a guy, I'm gonna slash you")

There is nothing wrong with letting a game do the telling for you.
Whoo necro'd a freshly buried topic!
