I've been playing with nGlide. Specifically, the one that GOG now provides in some of the games. For example, MDK1. I noticed that it isn't an installation of nGlide as no nGlide is installed to the list of programs and no glide2x.dll file gets put in Windows\System32, so it just uses the glide2x.dll file within the game's folder along with the configurator executable.

However, when I use any configurator executable from any game, the reported settings are the same. If I change the settings in one then go and use a different one in a different game folder, the settings there match what I'd set, they do not keep their own settings. No files have been updated in the game folders either, so the dll files aren't getting changed, nor are the executables.

So somewhere there is a settings file or registry entry that it being updated meaning that the setting takes effect globally to all nGlide dlls and exes. Anyone know where it is?

nGlide settings are stored in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zeus Software\nGlide

The settings are stored as numbers so you'll need to refer to the Configurator to see what number equals what setting.

Hey, do you think you could help compile a list of GOG games that use nGlide? I just thought it might be interesting to create a GOGmix which lists that, similar to the one that lists the DOSBoxed games.

As an update, nGlide Starter apparently lets you set per-game settings for nGlide if that's something you're wanting to do. I haven't tried it myself yet.

Just downloaded nGlide Starter and will give it a try later on. Looks like it should suffice. I gather that it modifies the values, then when the game has finished it returns them to their previous setting.

Personally, though, I'd prefer it if nGlide used an .ini file alongside the configurator executable to store the settings. That way it could be fully portable and truly unique for each game.

I'm guessing that the configurator creates the registry entry for the settings and that if the registry entry isn't present then the default settings are used. Anyone able to confirm this?

Carmageddon Max Pack comes with nGlide 0.99. Hopefully it will be updated to 1.00 when GOG package the version 2.0 installer.

MDK1 comes with nGlide 1.00 in the new 2.0 installer.

Screamer 2 comes with nGlide but I don't have it. I'd assume as it is a new release here that it uses nGlide 1.00.

Those are the only three I know about though. I'd guess Tomb Raider 1+2+3 have it and that Shadow Warrior also has it, but I don't have these (yet, anyway) so you'd need to get someone to confirm it.
