Why can't you just download them from somewhere else? If they are easily avaible everywhere, there is no single reason why GOG would "waste" resources on that.
I could download them somewhere else, but I could also download almost every game on here somewhere else.

GOG at current has a number of free games they use as a promotional tease to get people to join. I think a number of the open source projects offer better games?

My angle? Broader exposure for games I like.
Apart from Warsow (not my thing) and the quite fun Treasure Adventure, all of the freebies here are awesome oldies, so I'm quite happy with that selection.
Gog should host all the free ware games they can get their hands on.

Nothing stopping GOG from offering free games "as is", i.e. without support.

I think free games are probably good for GOG. Free stuff attacts new customers! I'd love to see some of my old favorites games that are now freeware in GOG catalog, like Inner Wolrds and God of Thunder. I just don't have the technical know-how to make them work by myself. Also, these excellent but forgotten games deserve to be noticed by a larger audience. It would be a good service on preserving gaming history.

SkyRoads, Alien Carnage (Halloween Harry), Daggerfall, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Bio Menace, Dink Smallwood, DreamWeb, Dark Ages... I must be forgetting some.

Weren't the original Command & Conquer and Red Alert set free? And what's the deal with the Jedi Knight series? Are they free now?

Except they insist on not doing anything on an "as is" basis, except the magical exceptions where they do. Because. That is a good enough reason.

Personally I don't think GOG should become any kind of hosting platform for free games, but they have had some free releases but it has been a while and it would be pretty cool if where to add them on a more regular basis.

There is no reason why GOG couldn't release games based on GPL source releases like Steel Storm which is a commercial game based on id's Quake 3 Arena source code release. It is on Steam, it could be on GOG.

You Need to get

D-fend Reloaded!

D-fend Reloaded direct download

No the jedi Knight series can be bought on steam!

Use D-fend reloaded Install with wizard and Make sure the game is installed in X:\D-Fend Reloaded\VirtualHD

X means the Letter of the Hard drive you have it installed to it's normally C: but MUST be the drive letter Mine is J:\

you install it with *User Defined Install then *Use Program folder for settings ***DO NOT USE USER FOLDER*** in makes the games run Weirdly in the start menu it has a Link called GAMES FOLDER Click this and it takes you stright to the games folder the VirtualHDD folder This folder IS where you extract your games to Making sure the have a seperate folder EACH

Like this

VirtualHDD\
VirtualHDD\Inner Worlds
VirtualHDD\GOTFree
VirtualHDD\SkyRoads
VirtualHDD\Alien Carnage
VirtualHDD\Daggerfal
VirtualHDD\FOTAQ
VirtualHDD\Bio Menace
VirtualHDD\DreamWeb

Get the Idea then Use the Install with wizard option and Browse for each game and it setup file it's that simple

Daggerfall is a little difficult to install so here is a youtube Video of it!
