Ah the gamecube, the Nintendo console that had at least adequet 3rd party games.

Eternal Darkness, Twin Snakes, and Resident Evils anyone?

I had Twin Snakes. It was awesome to see MGS 1 with graphics like MGS2.

And i remember when Resident evil 4 was a gamecube exclusive.

I also had Resident evil zero. Good times.

And the acting was improved, its not that the dialouge was bad in the ps1 version, but the delivery of it here is a comparison

Well the current Wii doesn't support Gamecube games so it's not even like they've removed it from this one. Lack of GC compatibility should be assumed unless otherwise stated.

Lack of WiFi is ridiculous though.

Yeah, Wii's backward compat was quietly removed to little fanfare compared to the Sony fiasco, not sure why Nintendo got such a pass on that one...

orcishgamer:
Probably because the backwards compatibility in the PS3 was removed less than a year after its release and the Wii's backwards compatibility was removed almost 5 years after its release.

What ceemdee said, few people care about GameCube compatibility by this point. Not to mention many many wii owners probably never owned a GameCube and have never even opened the flap with the controller sockets and memory card slots.

I think almost everything is way too expensive nowadays...

You can check it out here: http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/27/nintendo-makes-wii-mini-official-exclusive-to-canada/ - funny how the industrial design kinda makes it look like a red Apple TV.

And yes, as a Canadian, I find this decision to be bewildering. What exactly is the point of this? To sell more to the economically disadvantaged WalMart crowd? At $99, I've seen GameStop sell used older-gen used/refurb PS3s and XBox 360s at or slightly more than that price, and compared to this, I'd easily pick an older PS3 or XBox 360. And why Canada only?

Goddamn it I just bought a wii and I didn't know that. Not a huge deal but there were a few games I was considering rebuying

You can check easy enough. If there's no flap with controller and memory card sockets then you're out of luck. You might have gotten old stock, but it seems unlikely. My condolences. =(
