Trilarion: When the Double Fine Adventure is out, I would really like to know how many backers preferred the DRM free version and how many backers the Steam version. This is as close to a natural experiment as you can come. The people already paid, there is a Steam and a non-Steam version with approx. equal amount of content, the price for both versions was the same, no reason to pirate because already paid for, and the total number of backers is known. Only the personal taste decides. It would be so interesting to see these numbers. It would be a perfect test for the popularity of Steam and acceptance of DRM.
Will backers get both Steam and non-DRM, or are they only allowed to choose one or the other? I thought it is the former.

According to the kickstarter page:

it says "The finished game in all of its awesome glory DRM free on PC, Mac, and Linux, or via Steam for PC and Mac"

In the FAQ it says:
"Backers who pledge at least $15 will be offered Steam codes for PC or Mac as well as DRM free versions for PC, Mac, and Linux."

So it sounds to me like the former: both DRM-free and a Steam code.

At this point they are, if at all, in the stage of negotiating. And they won't make any public statement about it.

How things are with Stacked and Costumed Quest, however, is a very interesting question.

True dat.

Personally I doubt that GOG will support it for the simple reason that its available on steam, I dont think GOG will support the development of a game that is openly saying it will be sold on steam who are getting more and more of the older games and becoming more of a competitor to GOG.

Also I very much doubt steam will assist in the development unless they would get sole distribution rights.
