Xfire is awesome, mostly cause I use it as my only IM program, but I don't think I'll be buying anything from their store.

Most Midway properties were bought by Warner Bros., so they should be the new copyright holders.
I find funny that while Metaboli sucks big time, all the stores based in it that I know have very nice terms of use, comparable to D2D and GamersGate. I don't know why they don't get as much talk as the competence.
Hmm, very nice catalog they have in Xfire. First time I see Total Annihilation in a digital store, and pretty much all Sega games for the PC are there. Just lovely.

Xfire might not be adding drm to the games they sell, the publisher's might:
Install & Activate your game online as often as you need
* You can uninstall and re-install your game on the same PC as many times as you may need to.
* You can automatically activate your game on any number of PCs within reason.
* The number of automatic activations varies between games depending on the game publisher's DRM policies. If you reach this number, it can easily be reset by our customer support

HA! I still have all of those game Midway gave away months ago. I kept the installers and have put them on several pcs. So too bad for them!

The freeware version included annoying (but easily skippable) in-game advertisements, anyway, so the commercial version is still better.

I am guessing this store is heavily regionalized? I didn't see Shogun for sale (I LOVE that game), the only DD service with it that I know of is Ebgames.com, and god only knows if you can trust them.

Yep, there are a lot of goodies like the ones I mentioned before but all of that disappears when you switch to the Euro version as usual.

heh, well, I thought for sure it was steam only, and they just sold codes that went into steam, like D2D does for Zeno Clash and Saints Row 2, but I was mistaken, so I thought I'd make a laugh of it.

They also use the same half truth that seems to be prevalent:
Of course, you can always save a backup of your game onto a DVD or a hard drive

If it requires a reactivation when installing later, that's not a backup.
