Chipster: Does your "crash" merely stall at the save screen or does it return you to desktop after terminating the game session?
I'm also having problems with saves for seemingly no good reason, but on
all SP modules, Bioware or CC alike, but not with server play. I've updated my vdriver and that seems to have helped some (frequency lessened but it still happens randomly). But there are numerous possibilities depending on the rig. In my case, the save button appears but immediately the game stalls and then on restart the save is missing altogether. The only hint I have is that the music seems to skip slightly right around the time the save gliches... sometimes.
Some things to try: disable security software running in the background, turn off the power and let it cool down for about a half hour then boot and play for a while (fan or card's cooling fins maybe not adequate), disable sound in the ini, run at the lowest resolution, disable shiny water in ini. Some of these are mainly to increase poor performance but still worth a try.
But first and foremost, make several regular saves with different names and keep rotating them. I usually keep at least 4 saves going, one every few minutes, because I really get annoyed needing to repeat the same area over and over. Keep Quick Save active as well (it can be toggled OFF, but don't if having problems like this) because it can help at times.
It kicks me completely out of the game. Its been running great on my laptop before this. Ill try lowering settings and see how things go.
