Just posting a solution that worked on most Neverwinter night foruma I can find.
If the game crashes when you click "Load" or when in the load selection, it may mean that you need to delete image files in the saves located in C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition\saves.
