I just wanted to have fun, but everything is this game is way toooo silent - OK crank up the speakers. Only for this game, no other program on this system is so weird, but well.
But then still all voices are very silend, all those sliders don't help. I first thought "OK, not talking sound", but then I noticed it is just too silent.
All those sound options, where the EE has tons of them removed which previously existed, don't help and make it worse. For example: Where is the option to completely disable all the 3D sound options? I mean, completely, not just a 2D-3D slider?
Current sound from settings.xml (default since I gave up):
[sound]
[sound.3d]
bias = 1.0000000000000000
[sound.effects]
volume = 0.50000000000000000
[sound.music]
main-menu-theme = "mus_theme_main"
volume = 0.50000000000000000
[sound.streams]
volume = 0.50000000000000000
[sound.voices]
volume = 0.50000000000000000

Sound setting in windows (classic and new) are all default. Everything else is fine too.
Is there an extra .ini or .xml fot the "new and enhanced" sound mixer this game uses? It takes out all, i mean ALL fun if the sound is so silent throughout the full game, just 'cause the sound engine is so bad.

EDIT: The in-game audio for videos, for example the intro when starting a new game, is normal, perfectly fine.
EDIT2: Other OpenAL games, like Endless Sky, work fine.

SOLVED
Cause: NWN still has following issue: In some circumstances it sums up all speakers/headphones across all devices, and then thinks "oh, we have six channels! We have 5.1". In my case: HDMI-Stereo-TV + Realtek stereo internal speaker + realtek headphone jack (unplugged).
Solution: Deactivate all sound devices the game should NOT use in the device manager. Then it detects the sound as it should, and works the way it should.
Still the same issue for over 20 years...
