From what I recall, the first couple of modules in the series were rather amateurish and had some very annoying juvenile humour in them.

But they definitely improved over-time.

Still, I think the author's NWN2 mod "maimed god's saga" outdoes SG by a fair margin.

I didn't think the first chapters were amateurish. Low-loot, low-fantasy, slow-paced, yes, but amateurish? I thought they were done well and effectively.

However, they do indeed get better over time. Although I liked starting as a nobody in the town of Guerron's Cross, it's nice to start to become a more powerful adventurer later on in the modules. They really nailed the progression, I feel.

I will have to try Maimed God's Saga as I heard good things about it. I'm in Chapter 4 of 5 right now with Saleron's Gambit and I think it's fantastic.
