metallfan: Hi all,
can't figure out how to install fan-made adventures created with RedKit, any tips please?
Thanks
You need to be patched through 3.4, optionally 3.4.1. If you got the game here, recently, it already is 3.4. If it's earlier, patches are here:
http://redkit.cdprojektred.com/index.php?c=download The instructions for installing mods are on the same page.
1. Download the latest patch 3.4 and install it.
2. Create folder called “UserContent” in your Witcher 2 folder in Documents, e.g. *DocumentsWitcher 2UserContent - this is where you will put the downloaded mods. Make sure you have enough space on the partition with My Documents to store mods there.
3. After the mod is downloaded, unzipped and copied into UserContent folder, run userContentManager.exe which can be found in the Witcher2/bin folder. There make sure you have checked the box next to the mod that you would like to launch.
4. You have two options:
4.1 Save and Run - this will save your mod choices and boot the game.
4.2. Save and Exit - this will save your mod choices and exit the User Content Manager.
5. Once you’ve chosen the mod and run the Witcher 2, go to New Game/User Content and select the mod you’d like to play.
So, if you already have 3.4:
Create your UserContent folder.
Unpack the mod into that folder. Unpacking instructions will be included with the mod. Some mods are furnished as an executable installer; just run it. Others may be some kind of compressed archive, like .zip, .rar, or .7z. Get an archiver program that unpacks that type of archive (I always use 7-Zip, which understands all of these) and run it.
Either:
* Run bin\userContentManager.exe from the place the game is installed
* Or run the Launcher and select "Mods" from the Launcher screen
Select the mod you want to play, then Save and Exit.
Launch the game, select New Game, and select the installed adventure.
