vAddicatedGamer: The main thing going for Quen is that if you are unlucky enough to get hit with bleeding and incineration you lose a fairly large chunk of your life. Although once you beef up vitality this becomes less of a problem and Quen becomes less necessary.
Well, if you cast quen while one of those DoTs are on you, they end immediately ...

Edit:
Now that I think about it abit more, I remember quen stopping incineration, but I don't actually remember if it stops bleeding.

Yes it does. I think it might stop poisoning too.

Yeah, it stops everything :)

With my swordman/alchemist build I had enough vitality not to use quen all the time, so using it to stop DoTs was my primary reason for casting :)

Mhm. I had to use Quen for another reason though. For some reason the dragon is capable of one-hitting me (the highest I have seen is 599 - I have 2 points in footwork so I don't understand why) and does regular damages of 250-300+

Hehe, yeah, I know what you mean. I prefer playing a magic build and I NEEDED Quen for the dragon fight on Hard, got 1-hitted consistently without it :)
