I keep trying to launch the game, but it just looks like it's loading up for a few seconds and then goes right back to the launcher. Anyone else having the same problem.

I'm on Windows 7 64-bit and have crossfired 5850's running the 11.4 drivers. I've tried running as administrator, disabling one of my gpu's, turning down graphics setting, and even did a fresh install. No luck.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't see there was another topic on this. I looked, I swear!

Same problem here. It launched once, had to quit and come back, now I can't get it to start up again, either through the launcher or witcher2.exe
Same issue here.
Running Windows 7 64-bit with a GTX280 with the 270.61 drivers.

The game will run in windowed mode but won't run in fullscreen.
If you drop you desktop resolution down to 1920x1080 (leaving you ingame setting to your native res) it will launch fine. Pain in the ass, but it works.
still doesnt work even after dropping resolution down.
read this.. i dont know your issue at all but might be some good ideas here

King your a genius. Bitdefender was on in the background thought i turned it off but I rebooted forget it turned itself back on. Finally activation is working. Thank you so much!!
:) im glad i can help ! but u shouldnt thank me on this forum.. the console fan bois will jump in here and hate on me again :( thats how i got my -12 feedback
Well I figured out my issue: I cannot launch the game in Full Screen. When I do, the game spools up for about 4 seconds, about 237MB of system memory, and crashes. Go into the options, turn on Window Mode and voila!

GFX: ATI 5850 2GB, v11.5 Catalyst drivers.

Anyone know of a resolution to this?
Having the same problem as you guys.

Will not run in Full screen mode, but when I run in windowed it seems to do well...

It's just distracting seeing my bar at the bottom of the screen. Any fix for this?

If you, or anyone, are having issues and can't run at fullscreen, you can always do borderless window mode, which basically gives you the fullscreen experience.

First off, though, make sure your native resolution is not set higher than 1920 x whatever. That's the main reason people are forced to go windowed mode.

There are a number of ways to maximize and remove the borders of your window. I use autohotkey.

Download it and install. Run it. Right click on the icon in your system tray and select edit script. Erase everything and copy the following code and paste it into the file (which probably opened up in notepad):

^f::
WinSet, Style, -0xC40000, A
WinMove, A, , 0, 0, 1920, 1200
;WinActivate, A
return

Change 1920 and 1200 to whatever resolution you are using.

Save. Now right click the icon in the tray again and reload the script.

Now, whenever you have autohotkey running, pressing Cntrl + F will give you a maximized, borderless window. Happy gaming!

Note, pressing Cntrl + F will affect whatever window is currently in focus. So make sure the Witcher 2 is the active window before doing this.

same problem, cannot run even at a lower res or windowed :( guess ima wait for the patch to play :(
For what it's worth, I've been able to get The Witcher to run in fullscreen now.

I lowered my resolution in Windows to 1920x1080, then set the in-game resolution to the same, enabled full-screen and voila! I would think this should work if you run a 16:10 monitor, as the error seems to be linked to having a resolution width greater than 1920.
