Now that i have played the beginning of the game or some hours. It kinda reminded me of Snake. Tha'ts not a bad thing. Snake was a soldier who was always saving the world and in time got pretty tired of it. Seems like geralt has somewhat same attitude. Well, now you can make choices but still.
Well, in my books no one beats Solid.. well perhaps Indiana Jones.. =) But if Geralt continues to be badass, he will be close second.
yes i notice the similarities as well. especially the attitude.
In the english versions of the game they both sound very similar aswell.Grizzled, hardened and made cynical by decades of war and politics.

That would be a truly epic duel..Solid Snake vs Geralt of Rivia.

There could be no winner...however..if they joined forces..

Exactly! They do sound alike! And, it was just yesterday that I was thinking about comparing him with Snake :) quite similar indeed!
The way I see it its very much like assassins creed, Big Boss AKA the father(father as in his genes gave birth to solid snake) of solid snake is actually the descendant of Geralt of Rivia, and solid snake is a clone of Big Boss so hes a clone of the descendant of Geralt.

The metal gear solid series is one of my favorites of all time as well.

Yeah. MGS was/is awesome series. Never got to play MGS 4 'cos I don't have PS3. And when I realized that some time ago, that I don't never have the money to buy that. So someone had posted in youtube the cinematics of MGS4 and i watched those. Well, it seemed great. That kind of game that didn't disappoint. Solid 1 will be always my most memorable but MGS 3 was best what i have played in that series.
And now that i'm talking about it.. I think I'm gonna watch the video where Old snake and LiquidOcelot both take a beating (and take a beer while watching).
And they do sound a lot like other. Maybe in time when I first beat the W2. I'll try the polish voices and see what's that about.
I don't know whether it was intentional but the stealth music in TW2 shares a slight similarity with one of the tracks in MGS1 - it's subtle, and easily overlooked but being a bit of an audio nerd I noticed it immediately.
It's no surprise since the prison escape in Prologue is a nod to Metal Gear Solid games. Just look at the cut-scenes, the way Geralt is tied up, the way he looks around the wall, the camera angles - he copies Solid Snake's movements almost exactly. I thought that was a really neat and subtle homage, without blatantly copying MGS.

Their voices are a bit similar, but that's where it stops for me. The Witcher universe is a unique, fully fleshed out, original world. MGS is mostly an excellent mix of movie cliches that plays with player's expectations (especially MGS2, which was the best, in my opinion). You could say both Geralt and Solid are similarly bound by fate - one mutated into a monster slayer, the other a mere genetic experiment - but they accept it differently.

Both great stories. And a bit over the top and supposed to be so because, it's a freaking game. Just started in witcher 1 act 4 if i remember correctly. It will be really one of those games that belongs in a memorycard in my head. Playing W2 to see how it mostly works. It really is good looking game but so is W1.
Witcher 1.. played about 2 or 3 weeks so far. Time flies when gathering plants. =)
And I mostly want to take my witcher save and try that one with sequel.

Edit: infact I have mostly same fps in W1 and 2. This far. And in my computer it doesn't pretty much matter what i chance, well uberthing of course but otherwise it seems to run better without low settings. And about one topic some time ago.. well, I don't remember. *beertalk*

It'd be awesome if they did a Witcher, Metal Gear crossover game...in which either snake somehow enters the Witcher's universe or vice versa. That'd be such an amazing tagteam. You have Geralt who always seems to be able to get access to heads of state, and turn the tides of war politically at the top, while Snake can infiltrate, while undetected and undermine the powers to be from within their own military bases/weapon facilities or w/e rendering them much weaker.

Imagine a game like that where they work together..and you can either play it has Geralt or play it as Solid Snake and while they both work/fight together in certain instances, they generally do their own thing in accomplishing whatever it is they need to accomplish...giving the game added replay-ability.
