So i have both versions but ive heard rumors that the version for GOG has significant performance in fps and load times over the steams version. Im wondering if thats true as while im having no problems with the steam version however getting more frames and faster load times is always nice. I just want to know before i download the witcher 2 again.

I don't have the Steam version, so I can't help you with this first hand, maybe someone else here can. However, I'd go with the GOG version as The Witcher 2 wasn't explicitly designed for the Steam environment. Steamworks integration was just necessary to distribute the game via Steam. Even though this 3rd party software might not slow down the game significantly, it definitely doesn't make it any faster either. GOG's version is free of all DRM mechanisms and additional software so there can't be any related problems whatsoever, so you're on the safe side using the GOG version.

And just in case you don't know, GOG is a sister company of the Witcher development studio. No way the version here is inferior to any other out there ;-)
