sirthomo: Killed him easy once i realized about the mouse click to ride the tenticle. got my 2 levels up and now can't get out of the zone. been running around for over an hour looking for a way out /sigh.
Get out the same way you got in, by climbing up the rocks... Also i recommend just turning off difficult qte in the option menu.

Mate, the exit is there, the same rock which you came from! Face the dead beast and go left. It's a very obvious exit! Meditate if you can until a better lighting to help you see it. (either a sunny day or a full moon!) =)

sirthomo:
I'm stuck on this terrible boss fight as well. I can do the three tentacles without getting scratched, and I can finish the the qte easy peasy. But once the jerk starts throwing rocks at me I have no idea what I am supposed to do.

I've tried taking cover behind a big rock. This protects me while he is throwing stuff at me, but I don't know where to go from here. If I leave cover I get hit by a billion rocks (chain stuns... awesome game design). If I run towards the Kaylen I get electrocuted for some reason. Electrocuted! Why? How? Wha?

I swear, I want to like The Witcher 2, I really do! But the game doesn't want to like me!

Dodge the rocks long enough to notice that the ruined bridge now looks very much like a ramp. Run up the ramp to trigger the finishing cutscene.

As mentioned, the exit can be hard to find. After you loot the kayran, you climb up to the same ledge you were on when the initial cutscene started.
Heh, I beat the kayren on my fourth try.

you think it was frustrating, never knew she was yelling at ya all.

can't hear too good as is, it wasn't posting sub titles like it was suppose too or if it was it was so damn small. and hard to read when trying to concentrate on the fight.

Tip:
You can use Kayran Traps to speed up the fight a little.
Running up the ramp can be dangerous too. I use Quen.

P.S.: There's some hint in the game, though not too clear:
To defeat the kayran (...) These tentacles should be cut off or immobilized during combat, for example using a special trap. Once the kayran is unable to shield itself, one should approach its trunk (...) Good luck! - from the Kayran Journal Entry

P.P.S.: interesting read: http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/The_Kayran
I could accept someone saying that it's not a very well designed fight cause it's way too bland and simple... but it's really baffling to me to read about people who think that the kayden was too hard.

Jesus Christ, it takes two minutes to figure it out and two or three attempts at best to kill it.

You guys are the very reason why games today are boring, unchallenging and more in general made to be retard-proof. You demand for hand-holding.
You are the reason why we can't have nice things.

I didn't understand that Virmire joke until I googled it to figure out what I recognized the name from. Clearly that game had a significant impact on me.

Those who have found it difficult are older gamers for the most part. Without older gamers, everything would be a super rad awesome first-person shooter and gaming would devolve into a 13 year-old's wet dream.

The fact that games are being dumbed-down isn't necessarily a direct result of them so much as soulless profiteering on the part of certain companies. On the contrary, I think that older gamers' experience with older, timeless games that the younger crowd tends to pass on helps drive demand in the right direction.

So maybe we should give them a pass on the Kayran, just this once.

I *am* an old gamer, and sure as fuck I don't like games to be autosolving shit with a lot of handholding.
For those who love that kind of shit there's Fable.

I'm not even that fond of action games or action based combat in RPGs, but you can be sure that IF I play a game with an action-oriented combat system, I prefer it to be challenging.

Hard might not mean "difficult", per se. It is whether you understand the trick / timing or not.

And while you have impressive gaming prowess (as proven by your claim of easy defeat of Kayran), it doesn't mean that everyone else should be held to your standards (as what you are implying with your post).

Hence I respectfully disagree with your statement that "[those who don't get it] are the very reason why games today are boring, unchallenging and more in general made to be retard-proof. You demand for hand-holding. You are the reason why we can't have nice things." or that they necessarily demand "games to be autosolving shit with a lot of handholding".
Kayran is a joke - i am on my 4th play through (hard) and know how to kill it, but i have just been killed for the 15th time because it is so unpredictable.. This time i am using the trap to get my 47th steam achievement but keep getting killed when trying to use it. Last time i got killed as i (again) tried to set trap, and got so angry i smashed my headphones into several pieces on the floor!! Luckily they were not my G930s but an old cheap set!!!!! Ridiculous encounter - I got on it one time after cutting three tentacles but then the effing qte was different - it added a space bar prompt i didn't notice and i got thrown into the side of the bridge and died. never even had that before on a previous play through. At least its not as bad as the bomb under the car seat task in Mafia II - Joes Adventures
