If you like good stories, i would say yes. However, do you mean new to PC gaming or new to gaming?

Okay, then i would say that if you like RPG games, with a good story, it is a good decision. However, if you play with keyboard and mouse some things might not be perfectly optimized, I had some problems in the shop menu where the keyboard did strange things so it is better to use a mouse in the shop menu or just use a controller for the entire game as I did.
I did enjoy the game very much. I did also play the first Witcher which gives you more background knowledge. However, you do not need to play the first Witcher to enjoy the story of the game.
I played about 1/2 of the first witcher and then this game. It's one of the best RPGs I've ever played. Great story elements, really, really well-fleshed (no pun intended) characters. And the combat is intense and difficult.

This game does use quick-time-events from time to time. For the most part, they're tolerable.

I would also strongly recommend playing this with an xbox controller plugged into your PC.

Witcher 2 is regularly on sale for $3.99 or so (and has been given for free a few times as well). So if you're a bit patient, you should get it cheaper.

If you're interested, Witcher 3 is supposed to be even better and with the purchase of the season pass, you get W1 and W2 for free (edit: nevermind. see below post).

If you've had an xbox with live gold recently, it was a games with gold a little while ago. So you might own it. There's nothing wrong with consoles. But this version is prettier and has a few bells and whistles that xbox doesn't. Also, I like the PC's controller configuration better than the xbox's (even though they both use the same controller -- weird that they're different).

If I remember correctly, that only applied to people who had the Expansion Pass (not "season pass" =D ) in their account by the 10th of June.
