Im about to end the only save import i had, a neutral/triss witcher.

So was wondering if any of you guys have a tw1 order/elf save?. Possibel with some background info on em like who you killed and didnt ect. No save with the 250k oren transfer, thats abit much. ^_^

Err... you start with a few hundred orens, it doesn't matter if you had 1000 orens on you or 25000 orens.

I had a Scoi'atel ending save in which i let Adda and Thaler live and killed Yaevinn and Siegfried(Triss as your lover). Can send it to you if the save content is ok with you and if i can find the save, ofcourse.

And thanks but im looking for saves of Order and Scoi'atel with Siegfried, Yaevinn and Thaler alive for that tiny bit of exstra dialog, and that nostalgia feeling. ^^

It's in German, but I'm sure Google can help, choices are stated and the savegames work, not matter what language version. But you can always google "witcher 2 savegame" for yourself, I'm sure you'll find lots of savegames.

I just downloaded one for my second playthrough yesterday, because I didn't find all my old saves anymore, although I think I played all possible variants.

The Witcher forum had a save market too... I miss The Witcher forum.

'Anderling' is the German equivalent to 'non-human', so it's Scoia'tael.

Yeah, Germans are weird that way. You should see how they translate witcher... Hexer, which is a male witch, which doesn't exactly imply a swordsman or monster slayer, lol.

To be honest, we got a bit of a problem there. What was done in the German translation is exactly the same as in the English one and what Sapkowski did in the original. Taking the word 'Wiedzma', 'Witch', 'Hexe' and transforming it into a male form.
The only problem with that is, that 'Wiedzmin' and 'Witcher' do not exist, but 'Hexer' is quite a common abbreviation for 'Hexenmeister' or (quite rarely, imo) a term for a male person, making use of witchcraft.

Isn't that exactly what the word is supposed to mean, just like Aaden said? It's the same in Serbian translation, they used the male form of the word 'witch'.

Yes, I guess it's that they created a new word, while in the translation(s), they use a long-known word.

I just don't think that a witcher is like a witch in any way. Sure, he uses a bit of magic, but using signs is quite different from witchcraft. Which is unconceivably complicated for a male mind, anyway (don't shoot me, I'm just quoting Abigail). ;)

A witcher is mainly a swordsman. The signs don't make him a magician, forming a sign is not like doing a witch ritual, the effects are more immedeate, too. And Leo couldn't even do signs because he broke his hand. So, doing a sign is more like a "button", with which they tap into the energy they draw from the earth/places of power.

This goes a little bit too off topic now, sorry.
But I still don't like Hexer, because its misleading.

Actually, books explain the deeper understanding witchers have for not only magic and the arcane, but also people's and monsters' auras. Like when Geralt fought the striga, or when he met Dana Maedbh(if I recall correctly) in the Valley of Flowers.
By the way, I'd recommend the books to anyone who has played the game and liked it. The books aren't that long and are very fun.

Then again - a traditional real world "witch" and the game Witchers inhabit a similar social-space. They are often sought after to help, but ostracized and an outcast. It's not a huge jump to have a male form of something be more physical and dangerous.

I think I actually prefer this notion of "male-witch" to "The Witcher" which doesn't mean anything in English. The wiccan world doesn't have a specific English word for a male witch, they would be referred to as a "witch" - a warlock is used in Christian and Scottish tradition, although the image this conjures in my mind is vastly different to our Witcher characters. Historically I don't believe there was any ever town "warlocks" or warlocks being burnt at the stake for heretical values, while dear old Wikipedia suggests the etymology of the word comes from meaning "oathbreaker" or "deceiver" - very unlike our Witchers!!!

Which is exactly my point. It's a new and unique word for a "profession" that doesn't exist in our world, how can there e a word for it?
