If you start at the Troll and go southeast down the river, you'll eventually get to a hill with a bunch of ruins on top. If you climb that hill and go beyond it, you'll get to a swampy area that's empty during the day and full of drowners during the night. If you go further east, you'll reach a hut with a bunch of hostile bandits around it. I killed them all, but when I tried to enter the house, it was locked.

So my question is, is there any significance to this whole area? (swamp + house) Cause I didn't find any quests related to this place, and I'm thinking maybe it's just an unfinished location that the devs didn't have time to fully flesh out?

I have attached a map that shows the location of this area.

that's a bandit hideout. keep playing and you'll get a key to the hut. at midnight a ghost appears under the lynching victims.
I have a bandit's hideout key that I never found a use for...... Will have to to see if it works there...

Hmm well I finished Ch1 twice already and somehow managed to miss that quest.

Where do you start this quest? Is it related to the shop of dreams quest where you get kidnapped? I'm pretty sure the cave for that quest is in a different area entirely.
It's a part of the Troll Trouble quest. Remember the bandits? The leader has the key.

Ohhh I see, guess I went to that area before finishing Troll Trouble, cause I just checked, and I do have that key.

Is there anything worthwhile in that house?

Not really. Just some cheap swords and herbs and such. I'd loot and sell anyway :)
Ok thanks, you've been very helpful (:
