I finally managed to complete Witcher 1 without my hard drive dying in the middle of it years after I bought the EE on release and have moved on to Witcher 2 (which has been sitting unplayed in my GOG account for years as well. :p). I imported my save in which I saved Thaler, but I have yet to meet his agent in Flotsam after several hours of play. Is he supposed to walk up to you automatically, or do you have to find him? I've notiiced some people saying that they can't find him after saving Thaler, or that they did get a message from Thaler even though they killed him... Have I just been hit by a rare that makes things go backwards from the way they should have or something?

You need to find the agent.

If you look at the front entrance of the tavern go left and then right. There he should be on the left side.

Ok, I figured it out. He wasn't there, but I think that's because he's the guy killed by Dmitri in the Troll Trouble quest. You have to talk to him before you find out who killed the Troll's wife because he disappears after that.
