Dear Friends

After installing patch 1.1 I have got texture loading delay.
Let say at the beginning of the chapter one, when Geralt is in bed with Triss, he wake up and there is a look of his hand, it's in one color without any scars. After 1-2 seconds the textures load and then he has got scars and other detailed textures.

Do you know, how to solve it?
Best regards.

Sincerely

It's called texture pop or texture pop-in, it's quite common in the big rpg releases latey(maybe other games too but I only buy rpgs), anyways it's not an issue that can be solved it's just how the engine deals with rendering and sometimes it can temporarily forget or get delayed.

If you REALLY don't want it you might 'try' reducing the texture sizes and putting texture downsampling on high, this'll reduce the strain of the system trying to catch up with itself.

In all fairness though, I've never really noticed much of a difference when doing things ike this and it will look kinda shitty, in comparison.
Dear CaptainKremin

I have such effect only after installing patch 1.1, before that everything was OK, or I haven't noticed it.
Thank you very much for explanation.
Best regards.

There will always be some texture delay when moving about in games, seeing as most games are streamed (from disk to memory to cache).

To reduce loading delay when transfering texture maps from disk to memory you could:
- Be sure to have a large amount of RAM (4-6GB for most modern games) available.
(this will reduce the amount of disk access needed).
- Upgrade from a normal HDD (7200~ rpm) to a SSD (can be up to 8 times faster than a normal HDD).
- Upgrade to a faster (with multiple cores) processor (with increased cache).

Software wise you could try to exit other applications before starting The Witcher 2 (to use less ram).
I have experience this on both patches. But it is not an issue to me. I have seen worse; The Last Renmant.

When I installed the patch it reset my graphics options; might be worth checking that your "texture memory size" is large or very large. I get a noticeable delay with it set on medium.

aglynne that is correct my friend, quick settings change (texture memory size) helps with the delay.

Also what senbon wrote might be helpful and I will consider SSD, after all these are pretty cheap nowadays and will improve not only gaming performance but overall system responsivness (have one in my laptop and difference is very noticeable).

Here we go again another "you need i7...SLI...144hz...32GB" kind of posts misinforming people with valid questions
Have you actually checked whether all the upgrades you listed make any difference except giving someone a massive bill to pay?!

Not bragging.
I have SSD, I5, GTX 970 SLI and 8GB (windows programs cannot use more than 4gb anyway), G-sync 144hz and have pop-in textures too. As much as I like W2 I think this is quite bad.
Not saying SSD doesn't make any difference (loading times cut significantly) but this does not help to remedy this texture pop-in problem.
