Well I'm on the troll trouble quest and in the quest log it tells me to question it's acquaintances. I'm not sure exactly where to go. Sorry if I'm overlooking something obvious.

Not sure what part of the quest you're in as that's rather vague but here's the rough outline on how that quest goes.

1. you get the quest from the notice board
2. you encounter the troll and either kill him (completing the quest) or choose to help him
3. if you help him, you need to find out clues about who killed the troll, the first clue is finding the trolls head, which is hanging in a wall in one of the buildings outside the city walls. Talking with that NPC reveals where he got the head from. You can get the head by beating him on a poker game, although this isn't neccessary to finish this quest.
4. On the bottom floor of the inn, you'll find the person who sold the troll's head and by intimidating him you'll find out where you need to go to find the killers of the troll
5. on the cemetary you'll encounter a group responsible for the killing, kill them
6. talk with the troll who agrees to repair the bridge and stop drinking
7. collect your reward

ah yes I'm on the right track. I've just found the head.

Lol did anybody intimidate the guy because he wouldn't cough up money for the reward?

I beat the guy at poker but he didn't give me the head. Is it needed for anything or is it used as a trophy?

I intimidated him for trying to rip me off.

On my first playthrogh I did it well... on the secound time i just killed the stupid troll. The end.

if you never played him before and you have the flotsam:poker quest open and him as the last open player you can afterwards claim a different reward than money, namely trap designs or the troll head. if you take the head you get a troll tongue, needed for the "melitele's heart" quest. you can only obtain the tongue by getting the head or killing the troll. so if you wanna spare the troll and complete the other quest you have to beat him at dice poker. only works if you play him the first time.

I didn't kill troll and had already played him at poker. Does this mean I can't complete the "melitele's heart" quest now?

I made a mod that added the Troll Head and Tongue to his list of items for sale to get around that bug (look in the mods thread that is stickied). I already had Raven armour from a saved game import, my understanding is that's the usual reward?, so when I returned the head to him, I got schematics for Hunters Armour which was the best Armour I found in the entire 1st Act/Chapter.

I persuaded the guy but it turned into intimidation anyway... something like:
Guy: OK, yes, but I don't have the coin.
Geralt: Look harder.
Guy: But what if I can't find any more?
Geralt, leaning forward: Then I'll help you look/then I'll look myself.
Guy: This is robbery!
Then He called me a bandit and claimed I was robbing him as he handed over the coin, which he didn't seem to have to look very hard for.

well, yes and no, the quest will automatically fail when you enter chapter2 BUT afaik you can go back to the troll anytime and initiate combat, even if you "spared" him before and the troll quest has been finished. I think that's rather neat that there is only one possible solution to save the troll and get meliteele's heart.

Not to worry. I was exactly in the same situation. The only way left for you now is to go back and fight the Troll. You will still have chance of completing Melitele's heart quest :)

I don't want to kill the troll :( I made the moral desicion not to.

guys.i can't find the quest. i just got the quest from the notice board but there are no trolls under or around the bridge. even i couldn't find the man who was fighting with the nekkers near the bridge. please help me.
