I started up the game fully expecting to spend an hour plus tweaking and tuning the game and my GPU (a new GTX 980 that also supplied me with the game free..like a lot of you I expect : D)..
...and to my surprise it runs beautifully!
I mean..any of you remember the horrors that awaited an early adopter of Witcher 2, way back when?
I havent touched the graphics settings from the defaults, except to change the crowd population and water effects from medium to high...everything else was already high or ultra, but no hair works either..though Im fitting my old GTX550Ti as a physx GPU and might try it ON then)....
I take it there is actually auto detect and its not just a generic 'default' collection of settings?
I might play around with them once im more accustomed to the game and this 'baseline' performance (which so far is a solid 60fps with barely ANY deviation...sure Im nowhere NEAR maxing the game out....but probs very few peoepl have the hardware right now to do so........)...Im at the 'aint broke dont fix it' stage right now....
....and my lord this game looks utterly spectacular (as you all know : D).....
Anyway,I think its quite an achievement to have a game like this running so smooth out of the gate......I hoped it would be the case, especially when the game got delayed before xmas....
On the other hand...it SHOULD be expected to work...and its only years of poor release versions on other games that make a decent release day experience almost exceptional!
LOVING the game and thought Id just send off my gratitude to the devs for taking the effort to make the game run well for release day players...rather than treating it as an open Beta test, that seems to so often be the case these days!
