Hi guys,

I'm curious. Why do you do it? AFAIK there's no special gear/ loot/ achievement / scoreboard at the end of it. Is it just for bragging rights?

Even on my second run of the game on Normal, I died twice with the Kayran, was raped once by a pack of rotfiends, died by fire while i was rolling around the enemy campsite (facepalm) and many more deaths that I can remember (I suck I know)

And add the constant crashing that the game throws at me from time to time, I seriously have to ask...is it worth all the sweat and tears?

Do share your story. Even the ones who gave up half-way.. :D
I went insane because I almost always play the hardest dificulty.
Halfway through the 2nd act I realised that the only diference between hard and insane is the "die and you die" mechanic, and then I couldnt be arsed to change and went on with it.:D
For me there is a big difference: on my hard run I did not care about alchemy, crafting, to have the best equipment etc, because it took more time than just to reload if something went wrong. On insane I do my best to be the best prepared for every encounter. for example: why would I want to make the kayran armor when it's just a bit better than the raven and I will get better armor soon enough anyway. On insane I carefully choosed what order I should make the quests, left the more dangerous ones to the end after I got the better armor for example.

I wanna hear more stories about death by campfire and the like.
I have managed to die in the tower where we are rescuing the elven girls at the end of act1, i got on fire during the unbinding qte game and died before I could exit from it :(

I have too. So funny!

Sorry for the thread jack. I won't post here again until I try Insane mode!

I will finish it in an hour :). Crashes has nothing to do with insane difficulty, my game crashes regularly unfortunately, but saving/reloading is the same as any normal game.
oops my bad. I had previously thought that with Insane Mode you only have a limited number of saves. Had to re-read that part again.

As long as you don't die then you can reload any savegame right? And with that handy savegame utility around I think I might have a go after all.. :D

On my insane run I died on some QTE's but still got to reload. The kayran tentacle ride is one of them. Don't know if its intentional or just a bug though.

My game crashed and now my insane game is dead, wich kinda sucks.:(
I tried Insane difficulty immediately after I installed the game from GOG setup, (version 1.0).

Happily spent many moments in Foltest's camp, enjoyed Foltest's talking (with Shilard nearby). Got on the siege engine, HU RAA.. fully beefed up with Foltest's comments just before the siege Engine rams up against the wall.

Fight fight on the walls immediately after the siege engine opens up, went fine..A cutscene and then BAM I rushed into the wall of arrows being shot from the wall tower and died..first set of saves marked with DEATH icon.lol...
I'm looking for a insane run too, I like the idea of the challenger. I kinda did it the "hard way" when on my first run I died for a bad choice (not in combat) in chapter 3. I accepted the bad choice and started over.

But for now I wait, I still sometime have a bug that make me lose control of the character, I'd really rage to lose an insanity run for that.
I have finished the game with my overpowered Geralt ("Dragon deals minimal damage", Letho deals minimal damage" hehe 179 armor was too much for them)
I have to admit though that during my playtrough I did a stupid thing, initiated a fight totally unprepared , forgot what to expect and I was almost dead and surrounded by enemies by the time i was able to react.. and that reaction was pressing escape. Wonder if I could had at least cast a quen and roll out, but probably not, so had to choose to abandon my game (near the ending of act 2) or continue with this flaw and reload. I choosed the later :)
Insane is actually quite easy once you master the tools youre given in game.

Here are some videos I made having fun with Insane = D

Im probably going to do an entire playthrough of insane only using simple weapons.
