Recently been clearing out my hard disks and came across the old pre-EE install file for the game, including the pre-order installers.

Now I know I can get rid or the old install files but I can't remember if the EE version includes the pre-order content or is compatible with (Blue Stripes, Finishers Pack, Mysterious Merchent, Ultimate Alchemy Suit, Ultimate Magic Suit and Utimate Swordsman suit).

I'm not entirely sure, since I've only ever owned the EE, but during launch you can check/uncheck several DLCs in the configuration tool. I think the things you mentioned are included there, I'm just not sure if something might be missing.

The DLC is included in everything after patch 1.2, as memory serves. Around that point, it was all bundled into the game as part of the patch and the standalone installers weren't needed anymore.

But!

If what you have backed up is version 1.0, it might be worth keeping if for no other reason than it being the only way to have a DRM-free version of the unpatched game. Reasons why that might be desirable: the game was more difficult before patches nerfed the difficulty, there are some graphical differences between the old and new versions (including a totally different method of handling depth of field that I'd argue looks better), and there were fun bugs like the one where Roche and Iorveth randomly find each other and fight in random places. Since there's no way of downloading earlier versions of games here and the physical version came with DRM that was only patched out in 1.1, a backup is the only way to have access to that DRM-free version of 1.0.

(I don't know if any of that has value to you personally, but figured it was worth mentioning just in case.)

Thanks for that, it turns out the files are probably the original GOG 1.0 release (they are dated 17th May 2011, the original release date), so I think I'll keep them for the time being. :)

Ill have to get round to re-installing someday as despite being a huge fan of the series I've never finished W2.
