I love Yahtzee, and up until today I've agreed with him pretty well on most games--but this one was just terrible and full of misinformation. It's like he didn't even play the damn thing. Everything he talked about could have been taken from a disgruntled console gamer's post in a Witcher 2 forum, bitching about how hard the game is because it actually requires you to LEARN and be GOOD at it. I'm disappointed, to say the least.

He's funny as always but he's grown into the stereotypical "casual gamer". First person shooters a'la' Painkiller and Serious Sam and button mashers are his realm, I doubt he would ever manage to finish Thief if he decided to go at it today. He represents the kind of player who sits in front of his lcd tv after a day of work seeking for some relax and immediate gratification. And don't forget that when reviewing games becomes a job it ceases to be fun. I have the feeling he isn't even enjoying what he does for a living. Still I find his comment on TW2 witty and funny and he's got some good points. ;)

All his complaints are entirely valid, and I quite like him as a reviewer - he speaks his mind plainly and with a good sense of humor instead of trying to sound overly professional and objective.
That said, I still enjoyed TW2, just not nearly as much as I feel I could have if the game hadn't been bogged down with overly tedious item/inventory management and it's combat marred by sign and blocking unresponsiveness.

All of his points were fair and valid - his conclusions you may not agree with but he wasn't criticising things that didn't exist. I was surprised that he didn't pick up on the obvious console pandering in much of the design though, I'd assumed making such observations would be right up his alley.

All his points were fair and valid... for someone who 1) sucks at the game 2) doesn't read the fraking Journal 3) expects huge quest marks over NPC's heads 4) didn't play the game because it didn't have button=awesome227

No, no they weren't. If you find Witcher 2's meditation screen--the one with four clearly labeled buttons--to be "overcomplicated," you're probably unqualified to be a reviewer.
Which is kind of the point. So long as he's controversial, someone's making money.
Some of the other points were valid for someone who's only willing to spend a few hours on the game, but in an RPG, that's pretty much the equivalent of judging the book by its cover.

To be fair to them, Dragon Age 2 is really fun if you don't put it inside your computer/console. If you use the disc as a frisbee, instead, you can finally get hours and hours of entertainment out of the game!http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/8701-Dragon-Age-II-Review

That's too funny. I knew Dragon Age 2 was utter shite the moment I loaded up the demo. My reaction was "Hmm...I like Dragon Age. What's this?"

Well, like I have mentioned in different threads... one has to recognize that role playing is not the same for everyone. Given the above quoted statement I firmly believe that in The Escapist's eyes... FIFA 2012 is a role playing game as well :)http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/8701-Dragon-Age-II-Review

In Yahtzee's defense he was NOT fond of DA2.

The Escapist sould their souls to the EA Satan. I used to like them until the 10/10 DA2 and 7/10 TW2 review. They always hated the witcher series.
So I will not be surprised if YAhtzee was forced to hate the game that much.
