I've been working on "Devil by the Well". I looked at some YouTube walkthroughs and they were quite different than what I encountered. The walkthrough was done with an X-box (I believe) and I'm on a PC. I got next to no on-screen prompts "inspect the skeleton", etc. and my Witcher senses seemed mostly useless except for chests and boxes. (spoiler) Activities like climbing into the well were not cued. No glowing rope, not even a hanging skeleton.
Any ideas what my problem is? Is there a certain order in which I have to proceed?

I can't tell what stage you're at. If it's right at the beginning try using the witcher senses on the scorched ground around the well and on a dead dog also close to the well - i think the mission updates after that.

You have to investigate thoroughly to make the prompts change: look everywhere, read everything.

You're right. Seems obvious, but it seems that one has to complete the prompts as they appear. Until I read the Bestiary about daywraiths, none of the following prompts would appear. And I also missed the fact that I could get the DAYwraith out of my way so I could investigate by meditating until an evening hour and then investigating without interference.
Thanks again.

Thanks Namur. I hadn't realized that the prompts are kind of locked in a sequence, so I couldn't miss or jump by one without having the following ones unavailable.

You're welcome ;)
I thought you'd already get rid of the daywraith, or I would have told you :)
