I saved inside a house in Velen. The next time I loaded the game, the door was stuck in the half open position and wont budge. Its a small peasant dwelling and there is no other way out.

Go back to a save just prior to that.

Agreed, you're probably going to have to load an earlier save.

On a related note, I look forward to Dandelion's ballad about the death of Geralt - one of the most famous Witchers of all time and master of Aard, who died not at the hands of a Fiend, Chort, or the Wild Hunt, but due to starvation by the cruel devices of a half-open wooden door.

Alternatively, install the fast travel anywhere mod and fast travel away.
