zerebrush: OK, to see what might happen at "a higher" Level I went to level 70 (by trainer, CHU).

The interesting things to notice: there is gear that can only be used after reaching level 61.
You do not get any exp points from monsters, quests solved will likewise give you not much.

What remains: gear you find, craft, purchase will have ridiculous stats, and at least some monsters/foes are scaling.

Is it any fun to play at this level?
Let me put it this way: if you want to go sightseeing without having to bother a lot about ambushes and such, well - yes it can be still fun to play. How long it will remain to be entertaining - I just can not say, switched back to my normal level in the actual play.
level 61 gear? Anychance of getting a screenshot of that?

... will try - but: nothing spectacular in graphix, only the stats are insane (as far as swords go).
I discarded most of the stuff (a sword dealing nearly 900 is kind of boring in the long run), but I will have a look and post here.

Charon121: I'm strongly against anything that encourages grinding or farming. That stuff belongs to the realms of JRPGs, let's leave it there.
No, if the game has interesting classes, skills, items and and the combat is interesting, grinding is alot of fun and major part of most classic RPGs, not only japanese ones. I mean does anyone seriously care about the stories in Might and Magic or Wizardry? No, we want to level and experiment with the characters.

For me, the story is more important, and the story has always been the strongest aspect of The Witcher series. There can be huge differences within a single genre in that regard; consider, for example, Half-Life vs. Unreal Tournament. The former is story-heavy, the latter revolves around player skill.

The Witcher series has always been about impacting the world as well. I dislike respawning enemies precisely because they make it seem as if my actions are inconsequential. Why clear out a cave full of monster when it will be repopulated a short time later? It also makes witcher contract quests trivial. Why get so worked up about a grave hag who has killed a few villagers, when a few dozen nekkers and ghouls respawn every day barely a stone's throw from the village?
totally agree because w3 is not a game where classes, skills, items or the combat are interesting , but you were talking about RPGs in general
If you are lucky you will hit 40. I doubt that you will get higher than that without cheats. If you want the best steel sword in the game you need to be lvl 46 :( ... I think most people will beat the game around lvl 38.
For those wondering there have been found multiple references for a new game plus mode in the game files since the preload. Likely to be one of the last DLC's.

NG+ would make sense. I highly doubt the 2 DLC from the season pass will give you 30 levels worth of missions. I hope for a NG+ too

Valens_: wait for the Next Game + update (rumors are it will be in this week free DLC)
there are already parts of it found by modders in game files
You mean some sort of NG+ ,with monsters scaling with your endgame level, and with some unique monsters available only in NG+? It woudl be nice if the monster will start using their special skills more often and more efficiently, imho ofc.

Shelledfade: level 70, probably not. Maybe 55-60 after you clear and sell every loot resource in the game. Maybe 65. Maybe.
Nope. I cleaned entire map, checked all question marks, and wasn't even close to that. I was still under level 48 archgriffin that dwells on Skellige. But my Geralt could be a victim of infamous "no XP" glitch, even if generally Witchers are immune do diseases. /grin

I haven't seen anything demanding level that high. Gear scales with Geralt, but on level 70 it will be somewhere between level 51 and 68, those are peak values I've seen during testing. That involves fuckton of reloading.

Crafted items have levels bound to diagrams, no? Lootable and purchasable items do scale up, and there is a chance to find overpowered item at traders. But it is true for any level, even much more on lower levels.
Not sure for scaling, haven't seen anyone level 70 or something. Only few griffins, but they were at same high levels when I met them in ordinary gameplay. Maybe their stats are growing, but I can't exactly ask them about that. :)

Nope. Geralt can still be killed, easily, even greatly overleveled gear won't make him invincible (not even on easiest setting). The only advantage is that some low-level, yet annoying opponents could be "one-shot". Well, not actually true, many cannot be, still need to make two hits to kill them.
So by and large, the only point to do this, is to be able to chip enemies' health a bit faster. But it's not IDDQD.

The question is not for me, but you can see my picture instead:).
Armour that my Geralt currently wearing (and one new gear is compared with) is level 35 Nilfgaardian set. As you can see, only armour values are higher, but in fact, playing with Geralt wearing nilfgaardian set seems to be easier than playing with Geralt having this equipment - overall percentage of protection seems to be better or on par. Zireael still has some nice properties, but outside of armour value and cost it is exactly the same breastplate I got during normal play.
As for weapons, I had Dancer level 27, I think. Again, only damage was different, maybe mine had 5, not 7% in secondary properties. Sorry, can't find that save file where I still have it. So I think level 60 sword will deal approximately twice more damage, but that's all.
