does it really matter who to choose. My first go through I ended up with Triss. The second, with Yen.

I never read the actual novel, and I kinda thinking about getting them. Seem like not all the books has been translated to English yet. I'm never fond of reading novels, but, this game sort of got me interested..

According to the guy, based on the book, Yen was only interested in the power she could harness from the Djin, when she met Geralt, and she actually have to force him to give up the seal. But then that was just a portion of the story. Thy both ende up being poster parent for Ciri.

The one thing that bugs me is his explanation about Ciri, not being the actual daughter of Emperor Emhyr, But of another couple Geralt encountered in his adventures.

If that's the case, then the game wasn't actually depicting what has been told in the book. You just decide what you will during the game.

i haven't been playing the game after the 2nd time, but i'll be doing some of the things differently. The one thing I probably won't change is not letting Djikstra kill Roche and Ves. They never think twice when I asked them for help during Battle of Kaer Mohren. Even though it's just a game. Oh, and I'll still send kiera to Kaer Morhen. i saw "Final Act of Kindness" in youtube. It's depressing.

Interesting... you remember what the book is called? I read pretty much everything I could get my hands on, but don't recall finding a book that spells it out so plainly... I recall that there's one that hints on something like that, but really only very subtly. I always thought that this bit of info was taken from the book series, since there's not much information available regarding that in the game.

The beginning of the Yen/Geralt love story is described in the short story "The last wish" (contained in book of the same name), not sure you can get that separately, but it's a pretty quick read in and of itself ;)
I read it to a friend once, who adored it, while it never rang quite true for me... not a big fan of the "love as destiny" trope. Probably best to start reading, then you can form your own opinion on this ;)

Ah, thanks! I reread it, and yeah, spelled out pretty plainly there (although without explanation).
What I recalled was from "Emhyr var Emreis: A Biography", where they claim there was "a connection" between the two, but also state it to be a tenuous one...

If you read the books, you'd see she was throwing herself at him at every opportunity. She really WANTED to be with him, unlike Yen who always left him wanting. I was reading the books and thinking he should just dump Yen and her attitude for Triss. Now he can. At least in my game.

Yen wants to be with Geralt only if they are 'exclusive', however, Geralt throughout the books has commitment issues. Triss in the books, is the equivalent of an obsessed teenage girl.

I like Triss, it's just that thing she has on her forehead... I don't like it.
