Just ran into a monster that is NOT in the Beastiary.

I looked all through it and could not find this new boss.

It is a GARGOYLE according to it's nameplace a level 19 and it is kicking my level 23 ass.

It's under Elementa, or should be after you kill one for the first time, or read a book on them.

Could of been snuck in by someone:-)
Golden Oriole protects against poison. Avoid heavy hits using Quen (though his AOE attack will knock Quen down even if it wouldn't hit).

A few attacks and then dodge. When at range dodge thrown rocks and poison vomit. When closer in be aware of a possible 360 degree attack.

Northern Wind freezes it and allows higher damage.

There is an easy one in the "Wandering in the Dark" caverns, worth practicing on a bit if you've never dealt with one before.
Thanks for the tips guys.

Didn't know you had to read about or kill a monster before it showed up in the Bestiary.

Not all that helpful ... is it?

If you have to beat one or read a certain book before it shows up.

I have jumped around and do quests and then go after those question marks.

Lately, I've been finishing quests that I didn't finish earlier.

When a new Quest pops up it almost always has the " press V to track " and when I first saw that when I started the game I thought that if I didn't press V the new Quest would go away.

Stupid I was.

Because that just side tracked me from the quest I was on and put me on the new quest and left the old one hanging.

So now I'm picking those up because when I went to the Isle of Mists it said my old quests would not be resumable or something like that which meant I would not be able to access them after I went to the Isle.

So, fortunately, I saved the game in a new slot before I took a peek at the Isle and then I loaded the saved game up and went to finish off all the old quests and Treasure Hunts etc. etc.

I want to finish off everything I had started before I go to the Isle of Mists for real and I will be sure to back up to a saved slot again before I go.

I'm not racing to finish.

Got over 150 hours in and still only 38% done.

Hell why rush? Enjoy the game.

It is only *certain* side quests. Those relating to events tangential to extracting the Mages and resolving the quest for Ciri in Novigrad, and those around the hunt for Ciri in Velen (and side quests from those main contacts you had there).

You especially want to complete those tasks revolving around "Brothers in Arms" as these are important for the quest immediately after "Isle of Mists" finally completes.

Contracts, hidden treasures, Gwent tournaments (with a few exceptions) etc are *not* affected by this "break point", or indeed the slightly later ones that come up too.

(There is also a single Place of Power which isn't in any of the game guides in the Isle, if you are looking for as many skill points as possible...)

You should try the dimeritium bombs. They don't actually deal anything substantial on impact, but it looks like they greatly lower their damage resistance.
