I periodically get this bug; usually when in combat...
The entire graphic display will suddenly invert upside-down... it is also majorly corrupted; I can "sort of" see landscape effects, but any nearby people/monsters are not visible (though they are still attacking me!!). Also, the mouse no longer works when this happens. I can hit Escape to get the game menu, but cannot select with the mouse; have to use keyboard to move down to the exit option.

There's *something* I can do to fix it, because I did once, but don't know what I did, and can't repeat it.
Minimize/Restore of program does not work, switching back to Main Menu doesn't work either.

I'm using Witcher 3 V1.31 from Gog, with the two DLCs installed. When I last played through, I was using V1.22 *without* the DLCs, I don't recall this happening back then, though I'm not sure.

My system:
Intel i7-3820 OC to 4GHz
Windows 7 64-bit
16GB RAM
NVidia GTX 980, no OC, driver version 368.22
Witcher 3 V1.31 with DLCs, *not* GOTY edition

//**************************************************
later note: After further research, I'm finding *many* threads regarding this issue; interestingly, though, most people posting this, get the effect *all the time*, preventing them from even playing the game; that is NOT the case for me; the game plays fine, and this issue only pops up once in awhile, maybe twice per week. In each case quitting and restarting resolves it. I have *not* had the issue recur after restart. Very odd...

However, given that *none* of the other threads have successfully come up with a solution, my guess is I'll have to live with it.

Do you have mods, already tried repair/verify the game?

First, reboot. Seriously.

Second, try a different nVidia driver, preferably roll-back. Experiment until you get a stable game. This is all assuming you have no malware (you *have* checked?) on your system.
Hi All! Thanks for the inputs...

First, I have not tried repair/verify yet; I have gog version, don't know how to do this?? Would like to do so, if I can...

Regarding NVidia driver versions, I've been seeing this issue across several different versions (359.06, 361.43, 364.51, 364.72, 368.22), ever since I re-installed Witcher 3 and purchased the DLCs. I'm hesitant to roll back all the way before 359.06, which was quite some time ago - for one thing, I'm also playing Dishonored 2, and some of the new drivers are to support that game (and Skyrim SE, which I'm also playing).

I *do* have mods, but I'm hesitant to start un-installing them, some of them are very important to making the game completely enjoyable for me.

The fundamental problem that I have, is that this issue is so sporadic!! I don't have any way to run a test and see if the problem is solved... as I commented earlier, even when this occurs, I quit and restart from whatever recent save I had, and the bug does *not* recur... So I think I'd have to roll back NVidia drivers, dump all my mods, play the entire game through, and see if this ever occurs... wow, don't think I'm up for that.

I *do* scan for malware; I have both Avast, and registered version of Malwarebytes, which runs all the time; neither have been flagging any issues with my system.

See here, but it will remove the mods(you can install after that, the mods):

Okay, I'll look at installing Gog Galaxy; I have not been using it up to this time, I just download and install the .exe files.
