shantae.: Shut it.
You didn't test, right?
So you can't say I'm wrong (you can actually, but it would be just silly).
My guess is as strong as yours.
Show the results, the evidence, if you want to correct me.
Unless you just want to piss random goggers, if that's the case, you must have a very boring life.
LOL. No, you got me. It was a personal attack directed solely at you. You're right by the way the FAQ thread isn't really the place for this.

Depends on what set of patches do you install.
If you are a purist and prefer patches by TeamX then you need to manually install both from, for example, that post.
If you are not such a purist and use Sduibek's Fixit then you chose one of the provided versions and follow hints of the installer program.
Note that everything above relates to the English (US and UK) versions of the game. German release, for example, is badly cut and censored. Thus may require additional specifically designed patches.

How to uninstall or completely disable that stupid ingame forced hires mod? It doesnt work well for me, microscopic text and items on floor so tiny i should use looking glass is big no for me. Nothing happens when i use disable button in HR external setting.

When i try use lower resolution it just put gamescreen in corner and the rest of screen is black, whatever i set. I tried different settings including window mode, classic mode but nothing works. Win 10

There should be two separate executables, one is "Fallout" (with hi-res patch) and the other "Fallout (Classic)". Hope it helps!

EDIT: annnd I hadn't read that you already mentioned classic mode not working. Sorry.

Paul_cz: Ok, after two hours of reading websites and readmes I finally installed The Ultimate Version of Fallout .

The procedure goes as following:

1) Install Fallout 1 from GOG.com
2) Find and install "Fallout_1_TeamX_Patch_ENG_1.2w" (either via nma or just google)
3) Install "f1child_patch" (again, nma)
4) Install "fallup13" - this is the TeamX patch 1.3.4 (nma)
5) Install "f1npcmod" from TeamX (again, nma)
6) Install "sfall1" (from http://timeslip.chorrol.com/sfall.html)
7) Install "Fallout1_High_Resolution_Patch_v1.3" (nma)
8) Open f1_res and set AUTO_SCRN_SIZE = 0, then your desired resolution (I use 800*600, anything above is just too darn small for my taste), then if you want, change the way ingame movies work, either fullscreen or not....up to you.Same with movie subtitles.

Run the game and enjoy it in all of its patched glory, WITH KILLABLE KIDS (not that I ever kill them, but the option is here), with better NPC interaction (armors, levelling..), with tweaks like mousewheel in the inventory etc, in higher resolution...

The Ultimate Fallout Experience awaits.
As this post is 16 years old I wonder if it is still valid? Or did GOG add some of those patches themselves? On a newer post I read the high resolution patch is already included. I have the "Fallout 1 Classic" version btw.
Hi Anec

I was wondering the same thing, and it seems all the hosts of The_Ultimate_Fallout_Installation.rar are gone now, so that path doesn't seem valid at the moment.

Some searching around led me to this patch, that seems to incorporate all the stuff from the above mentioned patch, as well as some newer fixes: https://www.nma-fallout.com/resources/fallout-fixt-full-all-fixes-and-mods.8/

I have downloaded and installed it with the purist option, as I would like to experience the game as intended, just without the bugs, and it seems to work fine on my Windows 11 installation.

Hope this helps others too :)
Fallout Fixt is also outdated. I prefer "Fallout et tu", see:
